slotting drive shaft
so, my rx7 was an N/A when it was stock and i just bought a turbo engine to swap it, so i wanted a t2 driveshaft, and it does not fit onto the diff. What should i use to slot it, just a drill?

Re: slotting drive shaft
I'm guessing you're asking about mating a TII tranny to an NA Diff. That being the case, you can't use an NA driveshaft as it is too long and the splines won't fit into a TII tranny.
Mazdatrix sells a TII to NA driveshaft, and they show up on this forum and the other RX7 club forum. If you're trying to mate an NA tranny between a TII engine and TII Diff (a really really bad idea) , you should put the NA diff back in until you can afford to buy a TII tranny. |

You should start your own thread, put your detail question there

Re: slotting drive shaft
NA transmission will be torn apart by the rotating power of the turbo engine, also, clutch and flywheel size are different so look into that as well.
It's usually recommended to mate NA engine with NA tranny, turbo engine with turbo tranny. |

Re: slotting drive shaft
i have the t2 engine, tranny, and driveshaft. I have the N/A diff. the holes on the t2 driveshaft don't line up with the holes on the n/a diff. should i drill the holes on the diff to make them line up?

Re: slotting drive shaft
Unless you take them to a machine shop and have the holes professionally modified, absolutely not.
Mazdatrix sells a TII tranny to NA diff driveshaft. You're just asking for trouble going the route you're suggesting. But you'll be far better off is you just purchase a TII diff and half shafts to complete the set up. There is a reason Mazda engineers didn't use an NA diff in the higher horsepower TII set up. |
