I was wondering what everyone has for the trims and wheel clips and what not.
Stockport S4 13BT w/ 2.5" exh, intake, fuel mods, fmic etc. goal is about 300-320rwhp I was looking at the BNRs and was thinking of something similar to a stage 2, which is T04B compressor wheel and turbine with a stock turbine side, i think the turbine wheel may be clipped. But how to pick the proper compressor wheel and clip and such? Also, when hybriding with a t04 compressor onto a stock hotside, do you need a new backplate? Here is Turbonetics Compressor page http://64.225.76.178/catalog/comp_wheels.html I was looking at t04b standard shaft section Here are all of the compressor wheel trims, S, SUPER-S, T5/6, V, SUPER-V, H, SUPER-H And does anyone have any information about clipping the turbine wheel and what effects that it has on spool/lag/whatever else. Does the housing/wheel just bolt up to the shaft and backplate or do you have to modify/change those parts also? Basically size a compressor housing/wheel that works fine w/ the stock or clipped turbine wheel, and doesnt increase lag by too much. --Ben Martin |
i have a hybrid Garrett/IHI, with a TO4b compressor and a H trim
wheel |
node here is what i bought......
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...ssPageName=WDVW it is the t5/6 wheel, (check the inducer and exducer sizes) should be efficient to around 1 bar, at least 310 hp FYI...the stock inducer and exducer sizes are 1.725" and 2.48" this will bolt to your stock center section, no problem, the stock center section accepts standard t3/4 parts mine is on the way, i just bought new bearings and turbine seal along with it. the turbo will be as good as new for less than 250 bucks seemed like a good deal to me, anybody else? zac |
rotary1307cc -- are you going to put this together your self? i thought when you build them they have to be balanced to at least hold 100k rpm
|
ok this is the seller and kit i bought from, not the one above.....they are the same price and kit just different seller
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=7963100637 read the first paragraph, it says that the wheel is balanced and that no balancing is needed, just bolt on the hardware and go. I mean my turbine wheel and shaft are mint, it was balanced before, so if all i am doing is putting on a different balanced compressor wheel i dont understand how it would be badly unbalanced. How do they actually balance the rotating assembley? where do they add or take away the necessary weight? from the compressor wheel or the turbine wheel? i really dont know someone shed some light on the balancing process of turbos for me. mabey i will have problems with it lasting, but i really dont think so, if i am talking out my ass, someone let me know. I just cant wait to be able to hold 10psi till redline https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png , instead of only having 4psi at redline https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png I dont really think you can beat a $250 dollar hybrid, i have always been planing on a bnr, ibut i found this and had to try it, i do beleive the bnrs use the h wheel, so they are slightly larger you see i bought a nice used s5 turbo off ebay for $50 shipped and that is the turbo i am doing this to, so that i dont have to rip the stock one out of my car to do it, and then have my car sit, and me rush to get it done zbrown this is a nice sight compared to rx7club, not so much retarded ****,......sorry that was so long |
If I were you I would take it to a turbo shop to be balanced. I mean if you have everything apart.
With something spinning that fast, it wont take much to take it out of balance. But I'm talking out of my ass too. So let us know how it goes!!! who makes the turbine housing/wheel on that ebay deal? doesnt look too bad. *edit* says its all genuine garrett parts. noice |
so you're zbrown?
what happened to your supercharged setup |
ive used both a super-v/stock turbine and a super-v/o trim, and they both are a huge improvement over stock. we're about to try a h/o hybrid....
|
yeah i am zbrown, lol... the n/a engine i had the sc on lost a coolant seal a little less than a year ago, i figured my best bet was just to swap to a jspec turbo. I never did have a problem with the sc setup, (it did pull harder downlow than the turbo does) But i really have a thing with the sound of a turbo now https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683894.gif
Can anyone explain how they balance turbos in detail? i would really like to know. ill let you all know how it goes, hopefully well it says Genuine garrett parts, and his feedback is really good....if you look in the pic you can read Garrett on the compressor housing, so i dont know j9fd3s, how did that v trim hybrid act? how many lbs of boost? Just wondering how it acted and how well it held boost compared to stock. thanks alot zbrown |

thanks alot zbrown
we ran it at about 10-12psi although it would creep above 7k rpms, it was making pretty big power too, good response, the motor only held together for the trip down to buttonwillow and about 5-6 laps before the apex seal stuck in the rotor, it was milled for 3mm seals, this is why 3mm seals are bad. |
