Can the NA RX-7 shoot flames? And what does it require?

sidewinderx7 10-23-2002 11:06 AM

no cats

mockujin 10-23-2002 11:29 AM

so thats it, so the CAT is what keeps the flames from comming out?

vosko 10-23-2002 11:30 AM

yeah the cat cleans up the unburnt fuel. i mean you still could shoot flames with a cat but its very rare

mockujin 10-23-2002 11:42 AM

ok, does a company make test pipes? or do I just hollow them out?

pengaru 10-23-2002 02:54 PM

racingbeat.com, just get the header and presilencer.

Doesnt it "look" fast though?

pengaru 10-23-2002 03:52 PM

I've found one benefit to shooting flames/afterburn. It keeps people off your ass, alot less likely to be rear ended https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I read an article by jay leno talking about his turbine powered crotch rocket, he mentioned how one day he was at an intersection waiting for a light, and when it turned green he looked in the mirror as he started leaving the light and saw the front bumper on the honda accord behind him cave in from the exhaust.

hahah thats great... my na shoots flame and does the ocasional backfiring... usual during part idle situations... although if im racing and i shift around redline i shoot a flame between gears and get a pop... like a rally car...if you ask me i think its kinda ghetto though. my car is too slow to shoot flames

mazdaspeed101 10-23-2002 09:30 PM

my 80 rx-7 12a shot flames out of it when it backfired the flame was blue everything was stock except the muffler, the muffler was straight pipe, people thought i had nitrous.

I have the mt true duals, and for the love of god i can't shoot flames! I am gonna put in 92 octane and enough toulene to make it 97 this friday. I expect flames several feet long https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

DCmina 10-24-2002 01:17 AM

I heard my car shoots some mad flames but I've never seen it. :(

blaze08 10-25-2002 11:42 AM

I have an 86 n/a for 4yrs now and the last 3 times I turned it on, It gives a popping sound from the catback. I have no catalytics. It sounds cool though but why all of a sudden.

What does mt stand for? Mazdatrix?

1Revvin7 10-28-2002 07:12 PM

with RB headers/silencer/y-pipe and free flow mufflers i could only muster to get flames inside the mufflers shifting. We shall see what side exhaust yields. :smirk:

Fastrotaries 10-29-2002 01:38 AM

flames kick ass.

Mine seemed to dump fuel like hell on deceleration, with that same setup, afterburn was terrifying when I would get back on it @ WOT. I made some women jump to the ground while unloading their car exiting a tunnel entering downtown chicago, the whole tunnel lit up (night time) from the flames and they must have thought it was a gun shot with the loud ass bang that accompanied the flash.

sleeperRX7 10-30-2002 07:11 PM

i gutted out my cats and i shoot out flames when i get on it, still to slow to have flames, just gotta re-build tranny, street port the engine, lightweight flywheel,RB exhaust, diff final drive gear, stage 3 clutch, nitrous, and and and and, yeah im gonna have a bawl.........................mu ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/violin.gif
