87 TurboII 07-10-2006 05:00 PM

Sorry for posting so many topics, but on my 87 Turbo II, the shifter is reallllly loose. Even when its in gear i can move it a good inch or so either way. Also, it is almost impossible to go in to the correct gear when shifting, especially from 1st to 2nd. Is this a transmission problem, or a shifter problem. Are they all like this or is it just me? Are there any aftermarket shifters availible to fix this problem (short shifters)?

Thanks

Sounds like you need new bushings. like these http://mazdatrix.com/g4.htm

but you should be able to get them from the dealer.

It's super easy and cheap to replace the shifter bushings. Use the write-up on mazdatrix's site, and your shifter will feel like new in no time.
