shift knob pitch

I'm trying to find a shift knob for my 86. I had to take out the old shifter, turns out the shifter itself was broken that's why my shifter would fall to the left when put into first. I put one in from an 84. (only one i could find in a yard locally) I'm having trouble finding a reliable source on thread pitch. I have a M10x1.25 knob from my sentra that wont seem to fit whereas my sources say that the mazda and nissans are both M10x1.25. The hole is too small in the nissan knob I'm thinking it's a M12 but idk if it's x1.5 or x1.25 pitch

I believe it's M12x1.5 for the FB's.

sounds right as big as the shift knob is. I couldnt take the one off my old shifter since someone glued it on. I'll be driving without a knob til my one gets here from ebay. now to play the waiting game

If you just want a shift knob to get by and not spend too much money, Level Zero Motorsports sells round delrin shift knob with different thread at about $20 + shipping.

Level Zero Motorsports

Unless you have a specific style that you found on eBay, otherwise I'd save money and get a really good one. Especially if down the road you're getting short shifter, you will likely want a weighted shift knob for better throw feel.

atm i dont have the money. I found a guy on rx7club that makes acrylic ones for about $65 shipped and he can engrave anything in them. I want one of those but i lost his email and cant find his old post. The acrylics wont get hot like metal ones do. I settled for a brushed alum. one on ebay for $15 to get me by til i've got cash for the one I want. Driving with my hand in the shift boot is pretty wierd til I get a knob lol

Delrin doesn't get hot, so it's similar to the acrylic ones.

Just go with what you can find at the lowest price, and then eventually get a really good one that you will never change.

I never had a problem with my aluminum voodoo knob getting hot, except when parked on hot days. I'd keep a sock in the car that I'd slip over the shifter, that kept it from getting too hot.
