Anybody shave their door handles and go for a remote opener ?? which kit to buy ??
|
I did that to my b2600i... Spal makes good kits.. I think you can buy them at godfathercustoms.com
|
I looked into shaved door kits. Most expert places said that I would have to replaced the body filling every two years. You can guess why I haven't had it done https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png .
|
what body filling are you talking about ??

outside of the car, there is some welding and some body work involved any type of custom body work later on down the road may need to be touched up, factor in that alot of people who do it are hacks to begin with and the time frame in between touch ups could be much less. are you sure you know what shaved door handles mean? there is no "kit" for the whole thing, only universal kits that allow you to open the doors being as there is no longer handles on the outside, the removal of the handles itself will be a custom job. |
i am looking for the nescessary hardware.. ie: solenoids, door poppers and the brain box. I would like to integrate the brain into the factory alarm system on my 90 GXL

rob the proper way would be to weld on a metal "patch" and sand it down smooth to the door, therefore negating the need for body filler, but also maknig a paintjob necessary, correct?

Damn near imposible too.. maybe on an old car.. but on new cars the metal warps way too easily.. so a thin coat of filler is needed just to smooth it out.. I have not had a problem with my filler yet.. and it has been a long time.. over a year.. but the weather out here does not change drastically..
kevin. |
that would work..
but lotsa work.. would be nice to make in CF for FC's and FD's since it would save weight.. |

kevin. Besides the only way to get a 100% wave free panel is to cover the ENTIRE panel in bodyfiller and fair it. Im not making FG doors, there would be a good deal of labor to make 4 molds 2 molds per door, one for inner, one for outer There are FG fenders for our cars, how many people actually buy them? Although I always thought FG fenders were silly considering that fenders are one of the lightest metal body parts of our cars, like 17lbs of im not mistaken. I guess someone made them because they are easy to make. I am going to make you FG sunroof panels and sell them cheap, so that there will be no more rusting roofs, and ANYTHING would be better then thru bolting a piece of home depot lexan to the roof that looks like **** that I have seen recently We need to end all the ghetto FCs, I know some people dont have the money to do everything they want to thier cars, but its no reason to bastardize the car and decrease the value and give the cars a bad name. |

welds ends up rusting, that was the beauty of lead instead of welding.

racer doors?
what about the handles, the latches, the hinges, the windows..... you might not need a new motor with a light roof panel, might end the "helping it with the hand to get it to close" thing as well. my goal is to do the panels for well under $100. |
that would be great. i'd definately be down for one.

after the holidays when I go back to work I will
play with the sunroof panel. Right now Im busy with a side job thats a full paint job. |
