Well, I just purchased this car last week. I'm in the process of finding and working out all of the problems with the vehicle. As you might have noticed from some of my previous posts, there are quite a few... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

One problem has moved to the top of the priority list after a close call with a car coming at me the wrong way on the highway last night. The drivers side seatbelt track and connector is busted. The connector will not allow the seatbelt to plug into it and it will not move up and down on the track. I need to replace it ASAP.

My questions are as follows. I was told that since it was the seatbelt (safety equipment) that the dealer would repair it for free. Have any of you found this to be true? I just came back from the dealership and they looked at me like I was fu*king crazy. They said the new seatbelt track assembly would cost $540. That's more than half of what I paid for the car. OUCH!!! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png

If anyone knows of any options or if someone that has one for sale, please let me know.

Thanks Again!

I'm guessing that's an electric seat belt?

Nemesis 03-18-2003 02:19 PM

Si' Senior

Seppuku 03-18-2003 02:20 PM

yeah s5 are electric

Silver Ninety Three 03-18-2003 02:35 PM

I'd either convert it to a regular seatbelt, of just buy some 5 pt harnesses. I did hear that dealers are suppsoed to fix them for free though.

Seppuku 03-18-2003 02:48 PM

wasnt there a recall on them?

MaTT_FoULk 03-18-2003 05:46 PM

I believe their was a recall on those, take it to the dealer and see what they say.

Apex13B 03-18-2003 07:09 PM

now is a good time to get yourself some nice 5-point harnesses! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683827.gif

there was a recall for them not working, not for them falling off.

Do the motors work at all?

You could always get a set of non-working tracks stick em in the car

and have the dealer fix them under recall, as long as the car

hasnt had them fixed yet.

BigTurbo74 03-18-2003 07:43 PM

so there is a regular conversion kit?,,, like it is possible?

Nemesis 03-18-2003 07:47 PM

I've been searching the Interenet looking for documentation of this recall. I found what I think is it on the NHTSA website. Link to recall.

I have have called the dealer back regarding the recall and they told me to bring it into the dealership tomorrow. I'll let you guys know what happens.

Thanks for the info.

not sure what your saying, but if you have a S5 and the automatic seatbelts no longer work and they werent fixed yet under recall you can get them fixed for free.

BigTurbo74 03-18-2003 07:57 PM

actually even if they were fixed and break again they still fix them. cause if they replace them they are sopose to have a lifetime warrente on them. mine broke about 7 months after they fixed it and i called them and told them and they still said its free of charge
