My brother has an 89 rx7. We made up stainless exhaust 3" muffler where the cat was , and twin 2 1/2 " out the back with 4" tail pipes. Also fitted a K&N filter and got a power FC. We were about to install a front mount intercooler when we had some spare time , then the engine did a water seal..
So we had a bit of time to do it. Engine bay with some bits taken out. |
Reason for water seal going... corroded side plates where the waterseals go and the rotor housings were showing there age so we replaced them with new ones and gave them a mild street port before assembling.
|
The rotors were slotted to 3mm .
We had an T70/t3 turbo and 50mm wastegate hanging round and one of the exhaust manifolds we make , so we figured why not, and we polished all the manifolds , alt etc . We didnt paint the block or polish the housings to give it that " it could be stock look " and put a new 4 kg chrome moly flywheel and sports clutch. |
Then we modified a gtir pulsar intercooler to fit in the front , remounted the relays and made an alloy cover to cover it all up and duct air into radiator. We made the plumbing from stainless steel and made a new battary tray that sits over the top of it . The throtle body hat we also make which is 3" to match the plumbing. For the BOV we use trust type r .
Kept the power steering but ditched the air con . The plastic ontop of the radiator looked like it was ready to split so we made an alloy tank for it and fitted a 16" fan. To control the boost its got a blitz dual solinoid boost controller. Extra fuel is taken care of with 700cc blitz injectors. Also every thing hot has got multi layer stainless heatshields around it . |
looks nice and clean. me want!
|
Holy crap, you make it sound easy. Nice work!
|
Fantastic, you boys down under make quick with the go-go...

i applaud you for using new core parts. you set a good example to all the cheap bastards. lot's of work in that bay. one suggestion though, replace the plastic water neck.
