Maybe somebody can help me out here.. im doing the t2 swap on my 91.. im using a s5 t2 jdm ecu i bought off of ebay.. that got shipped from japan.. so im thinking this ecu should work on my n/a engine.. and no.. i start it up and it runs like its running one rotor... like the primary injectors are spraying.. meanwhile i put my stock 91 ecu... and it works just fine.. so im thinkin i got a bad jdm ecu? but the board is fine and so is the chip... so im thinkin in japan do s5 use low impendance? or whatever.. i dont know what to think but to run this t2 engine on my stock 90 na ecu or find an s5 t2 ecu around there.. which is hard to find... can anybody help me out and tell me why this ecu doesnt work with my s5 na engine??

all jdm rx7s were turbo. yours is an NA.

The S5 JDM ECU is for a 13BT Only...it will not run your NA engine.
I'm also a little confused as you say your doing the T2 swap on your '91 NA...so why do you still have the NA engine in the car...you need a T2 engine in there in order for it to be a T2 swap and use a T2 ECU... Did I misread your post?? |
why us a japan ecu at all?? one of the first things to go in tuned japanese cars are the ecu's if they have the money...why? the stock ecu's are very restrictive.. I still love laughing at the guys around here that have an sr20 swap and used the stock ecu...and they wonder why they have a problem getting over 110 mph.

im doing the turbo II swap tomorrow... so basically while i had the s5 na motor inside.. i thought it should start the na engine at least and make it run decent?? correct?? at least make it idle.. right? im just thinkin in theory .... but if u say that the t2 ecu will only run with the t2 engine then my question is answered... when i started it on the na engine.. it felt like it was only running on one rotor... or one injector , whats that all about? . so im thinkin whats so different between both computers... help me out
