OK the deal is my precat and main cat are removed so do I need the air pump any more? I was told if I removed that i will have problems!
|
you dont need it on a catless turbo config...
|
actually, well if your car is a s4 NA or either yr T2, you dont need it,
however if you have an s5 NA 89-91, then the aux ports and VDI are ran off the air pump so removing it would render them non funtional, which you would lose a good deal of top end. |
Thanks for the help as soon as I get in my block off plates that thing is gone.

Remember you also need a dual alternator pulley once you get rid of it and need to run 2 of the crank-alternator-waterpump belts. If you don't do this your alternator has a good chance of slipping/getting damaged.

Assuming you have a T2, you shouldn't experience any problems. You definitely want to run a two-groove pulley on the alternator, but the reason is to ensure sufficient belt friction on your water pump pulley.
