S4 limp mode?

So my car: 86 with a na 13b
it has the air pump removed, and the egr removed..both blocked off.
also has omp removed (i use premix) and the fpd removed
bac and thermowax still there.

so the problem: i bought the car bone stock a few months ago.
engine has 40,000 miles on it, it was rebuilt with a mazdatrix rebuild kit in 97.
has steel apex seals, and a new rear rotor housing. (along with everything else that goes into a rebuild)
the engine runs very strong, but i've been having TPS issues since i've gotten the car.

i had to take the intake off to fix the FPD, after that the TPS always gave me trouble, i would get it into spec and the car would still idle surge and run like crap.
sometimes it would only rev to 3,500 then cut out and run with less power till redline.
sometimes it would pull hard to redline.

when i wiggle the tps wiring, sometimes it would start running better, and other times it would stay the same.

as of reccently: (ie the point of this post)
the car runs really rough, like its in limp mode. There are a few videos on youtube showing how it runs..its kind of hard to explain.
low on power, backfiring, hard starting, etc.

i cut the harness open to see if there were loose wires, and i found both wires going to primary injector 1 had broken and were shorting..so i fixed that..problem persists..

i've checked the TPS and its in spec, and adjusted correctly.

i tested both coils, and they are fine.

i replaced the plugs and wires

i cleaned all the grounds

im thinking its 1.) a bad wire somewhere, or 2.) its the Temp sender behind the water pump. i dont see how a clogged car could do this..
maybe a clogged fuel filter?

any suggestions?
