Alright guys. I have an opportunity to get an S4 t2 but i'm not sure if i should since i want to drop it into my 89 GTU. Do you think this would be a great idea since i would be receiving the whole S4? I could do a complete swap on engine, tranny, and undercarriage. I would love to do this but I don't know if it's a wise choice since the S5 engine is a better engine. What you think i should do??

Whats wrong with the T2? I would think that it would be easier to fix the T2 than to do a S5-S4 swap.

Thats actually how my car is. It is a wiring nightmare unless you convert the S4 engine to a S5.

You think the S5 N/A is better than the S4 TII https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/blink.png

Well the T2 was in an accident and the frame is bent. the engine is good along with everything else. The engine on the T2 will need a rebuild cause it has over 120000 miles. My GTU is a good vehicle but is lacking the power i want. It has around 90000 miles on it and is due for a rebuild sometime soon also.

Thats what I thought.

Since you have a S5 engine already, it will not be hard to convert the T2 engine to a S5, then get a S5 T2 ECU.

sounds great! I was also looking at a jspec engine. but i cannot find one for a good price. do you think i should stay with the usdm engine or would a jspec be a better swap? I plan on going turbo without the turbo hood and get a front mounted intercooler and have it painted flat black to camaflauge it somewhat. i want the gtu to look like a N/A but have the power to run with the big dogs.

120,000 miles on a rotory is not alot... there so balanced and only have just a few moving parts... that engine should last you a while unless its been abused and not taken care of... mine has 175,000 and runs like a champ... ive actually been trying to blow it up for a few months now so could have an excuse to do a rebuild/port. put that T2 in the car... it will be worth it...

There is no point in getting a JDM engine if you have a USDM one, there is no power gain by using the JDM, it just a few very minor differences to the intake manifolds/sensors, but not enough to make any difference.

I would suggest rebuilding that engine even if it has 120K on it..you might as well get it done now before putting it in the car, doing a bunch of work and then having to pull it back out later...just an idea..

1000-1200 is expensive for a J-spec TII block? That is dirt cheap. Go to www.rotaryshack.com.
