Hey all, I'm new here today and I've got a 88 RX7 turbo anniversary edition with only 50,000 original miles. This past summer the mufflers basically rusted off (I'm located in Boston, MA) and i drove around for a bit without them. This thing would really move without the mufflers on! Anyways, after about a week the car would start to load up and have a large backfire and then only would run on one rotor until another backfire and then the car would run fine again. Sometimes the car would start up and only run on one rotor. Now i've replaced the mufflers and replaced the wires. I replaced the plugs about 8,000 miles ago which was before the car started to backfire etc. The car doesn't do the one rotor thing anymore but sometimes it will bog when under normal throttle in any gear-it feels like when your in 5 gear doing like 10 mph and the car will buck cause the rpm's are too low. What should i do to make it run better, and what are some performance mods. I plan on getting some aftermarket mufflers but I don't know if it will backfire again. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png I just want to get it running right before i start to mod it up...but it was soo much quicker without the mufflers on and i want to get it to that point again! thanks in advance!

i have the same problem, it bucks in low rpms.....i think your TPS is bad....its the sensor that tells the position of the throttle, and when its bad, it bucks

it might not be adjusted too....i should have put that b4 saying its dead

sounds like the narrow range tps. Adjust it and you should be fine.
