Ok im new to the rotary scene and i just bought my first rx-7 which is a 1990 gtu model with around 97,xxx miles on it i bought it from an elderly lady who was the original owner. When i was looking at the car they told me that the clutch was shot due to all the fluid leaking out..So i asked them if they tried replacing the slave or master cylinder and they said no.So i bought the car thinking it would be a small simple fix but upon getting the car home i noticed that the clutch fork was siezed so i pulled the tranny to find the problem which ended up being the release bearing coming off the shift fork on one side so i cleaned up the tranny examined the clutch and pressure plate put a lilttle grease on the throwout bearing and reinstalled the tranny..HERES WHERE IT GETS CRAZY TO ME i installed a new master,slave cylinder, and clutch hydraulic hose bleed the system with the help of a friend for around 30 mins and all i seemed to get was about 2 inches of pressure in the pedal right before it reaches the floor now if i leave the pedal to the floor it stays right outside the 2 inches of pressure but will not build up anymore pressure or come back up at all does anybody have any ideas???? ANy help would be greatly appriciated.





P.S IVE BLEED THE SYSTEM FOR AT LEAST 45 MINS THIS MORNING AND 30 MINS TO AN HOUR LAST NITE

When you push the clutch, is the slave piston just not moving the fork far enough? Or is it moving plenty, but you suspect something wrong with the pressure plate/clutch? Is the clutch disengaging at all?

Bleeding clutch systems can sometimes be a pain in the ass. Try bleeding it again but do this - push the clutch pedal to the floor have a friend crack the bleeder bolt on the slave, after all the fluid runs out keep your foot down but have your friend push the slave cylinder piston all the way in as far as it goes, pushing the rest of the fluid out of the slave. there is sometimes air trapped in that residual fluid. Give that a shot and let us know if it works.

was the clutch fork bent? that could be part of the problem

shift fork seems to be moving fine and i even bought the one man bleed kit from autozone and bleed it that way. And no the shift fork didnt seem bent at all.

Those kits dont work as good as two people. You need to push the slave piston all the way into its bore, the shift fork will not push the piston all the way back. Thats why you need two people to bleed the system.

ok when you push the piston do you close the bleeder before it pushes back out or leave it open...and somebody told me to try bleeding the clutch with the car on could that be the problem????

You push the piston in while the bleeder is open. Hold the piston in as far as it goes, once all the fluid/air runs out then you close the bleeder. Then lift the clutch pedal up, push it to the floor, crack the bleeder, push the piston in, close the bleeder. keep repeating this until you get a pedal that returns on its own. that should do it. It will not make any difference if the car is running. If you are bleeding the brake system it might help to have the car running but thats another story.

Maybe try to adjust the clutch pedal.





Just shooting out ideas/possibility.

Ok so as I was laying in the floor board today I looked at the brake pedal and i noticed that the brake pedal looked like it had a release sensor or something and my clutch pedal is missing the black rubber circle and the little black pin thing that extends out could that be the problem and what is this piece called ?
