right now i have an 89 celica gt and it inda sux i have to spend soooo much on repairs and i'll have to spend sooooo much more to get it to be fast enough. i am looking at an 86 - 88 (for insurance purposes) turbo. Are repairs more expensive because of the rotary? is it possible to get one for under 3000 thats no gonna need alot of money put in to it?

You can probably find a good one for around 3500. But under 3000 might mean the car is coming with a few problems. But you never know, good deals can pop up now and then.

UniqueTII 10-09-2002 12:33 PM

You just have to be patient, especially when looking for a TII.

yea im gonna drive my money pit untill i cant afford to fix it ne more then or untill i find a good deal on a turbo, and im willing to drive 500 miles to find a good tII

You might want to allow a little more than 12 minutes for a response time... maybe 15 LOL

UniqueTII 10-09-2002 12:55 PM

Where are you from? I'm sure someone on here could help you find one.

Even if you dont have "problems" with a TII, it will become a money pit anyways https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Wait for a good one though. I waited almost a year for mine, and even then it covertly popped up under my nose in a classified ad for a rusted out 89 V6 firebird, "Also, 87 RX-7 Turbo, 63k, red, polished rims"

4 days and $4400 later it was mine https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

are rotarys easy to work on?

sidewinderx7 10-09-2002 03:01 PM

once you learn, i'd say they are very easy to work on.

I got my '88 GTU for $3k with only 80,000 on it. It's not a turbo, but it's still a lot of fun. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

do some research on rotary engines, there just as easy to work on as a piston motor is ,ive havnt been able to find a turbo2 yet except for a wrecked one down the street from me(it was totalled!) if you want a turbo2 wait and be patient, and if its the turbo you want dont buy a n/a and dont assume it can just be turbo charged either, that was my mistake, big mistake https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif , do not buy one off a kid either, or any car for that matter, lol if you want one bad enough you'll find one

heres a good website for you. www.beyhondtheredline.fd3s.net and www.autotrader.com good luck

I got lucky on mine, it was owned by some older lady who took it to the dealership for EVERYTHING, meaning i now have ALL the original receipts!

she invested over 10k into the car, for tune ups, small problems, etc... even had my engine rebuilt (by hayes :( ) on her expense... :bigok:

I figure it was almost like getting it new, for how much she put into it.

and it was an old lady, so im sure she didnt tear it up much https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
