Okay, my frankenstein car is now acting up and I don't know where to begin... It was running just fine but I hit a bump going sideways through a turn and now the engine seems to run on just one rotor, but only sometimes... Until tonight when it seems to be blown, but it stills seems to have good compression it starts up just fine idles fine just doesn't have any power. It has been idling at 600 rpms, but right before it did that it was idling at 1500 rpms I don't get it! I'm lost I don't know what to do and I'm in know state to deal with this crap.

So any ideas about what might be causing this would be great...

PS the connection at the trailing ignitor the clip that holds it in place was broke and the connection came loose in my hand but I haven't tried to drive it sence.

Thanks

Running on only one rotor.. never really heard too much about that.. but it doesn't sound good at all..

it happened on my 87 gxl when i first bought it, it was a broken apex seal https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

that doesn't sound good. time for ghetto compression test

pull out spark plugs, remove EGI fuses

crank engine. listen for loud even whooshes.

if you hear a faint whoosh or a missing whoosh you are missing an apex seal

whoosh,whooosh, whooosh is good

whoosh................whooosh is bad

good luck

do a comp test, check the spark plugs, and check the fuel injectors too. Maybe an injector got knocked loose or something

I have to agree. Sounds like the apex seal.

It turned out to be that bad connection at the trailing ignitor https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png I'm glad that's all it was, I also checked all of my connections, zip ties are my best friend!

vosko 04-28-2003 02:22 AM
