Ok...I know that I haven't heard much good about this catback...but here's the thing...I'm trying to get my GF an '88GXL..it needs a muffler, battery, and a paint job and has 116K nice car...but I can only spend $2500 and thats what he's asking for the car...so I'm looking for a cheap way to replace the muffler and I was wondering what do you all think of the RP catback?? Whats a good route...I mean, I know of plenty..just wondering on some opinions...

it's decent. Sounds pretty nice. The only real downside is that the mounting hooks are never correct, so it takes some work to make them hang even.

For an N/A you don't need much more flow than those provide, so it's a good system. I had a friend that switched from that system to an HKS system, and he said it actually felt slower.

this may be off topic, but $2500 for a 88 GXL that needs a muffler,

a battery, AND paint is wayyyyy too much money.

Whats the good part of the car that he is asking so much?

Offer him $1500, even then thats alot of money for one with bad

paint.

I like the RP but I think $400 is a little much. I know I keep saying it but why not save $100 and get the Dynomax from Summit.. its the same thing without the extra paint.

I have the RP catback on my T2 (bought it with it)...sounds nice, low bassy tone. rotary>piston is right about the hanging of the mufflers...they aren't as even as I'd like.

get the corksport. its dirt cheap and sounds good. it's only a single exit though

Rob x-7 06-02-2003 06:47 PM

economy and sound wise the dynomax may be the way to go

N/A are better when they are muffled.

Well, I never planned on paying 2500 for it...I'm starting at 1500 and not going over 2K...its interior is in good shape and i'm driving it tomorrow to see how it runs.

Actually, I've now got $5k to spend on it...so I'm going a dif route w/ the exhaust..prolly corksport single though w/ RB headers...we'll see..

It looks like a quality piece, I'm going to get it myself. I cant justify the cost of the racingbeat system from any budget viewpoint. I heard a FC with headers the other day, your girl wont be able to listen to the radio.
