Hi,
I am new to rotary engine, I like to find out how long the rotary engine (13b) usually last? 100k miles? |
Depends on the motor and owners. Anywhere from 65k to 300k+

I have 175k on mines and still running strong its NA |
DO NOT take this post as any sort of guarantee that a motor will/won't blow at any given time, or that a motor with a given mileage is good/bad.
In my experience, and hearing from other people... 3rd gen motors run 60-120k before wearing out or going pop if left stock. They can be made to last longer or shorter depending on mods 2nd gen turbo motors run a bit longer than that depending on use. 1st gen and 2nd gen NA motors last 100-250k. Longevity is mostly based on boost issues on turbo cars, and on just wearing out on NA's. The highest mileage NA motors I've heard of were around 290 and they had the 3 piece stock seals roll on them as they'd worn down too far to fit the grooves. Hope this helps without confusing. |
Thanks for the replies,
I am planning on doing rotary engine swap on a Datsun pickup. ebay always have one or two sellers; selling a complete JDM rotary turbo engine (includes ECU, harness, tranny, alternator...), e.g http://tinyurl.com/2xsqa5 . Their engines would have 50k-60k miles. Do you guys think 50k-60k rotary engine considered a low mileage engine or toward the end of the life? Is it worth of buying one for the engine swap? |

It is probably on the downslope towards the end of its life, so if going that route, you may want to account for a possible rebuild down the line in your budget... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif |

JDMs usually arent verifiable as far as mileage. |
