[attachment=44002:P2180228.JPG][attachment=44003:P2180229.JPG]Well just had to show my month of labor off. It's that 87 base that model that I bought to use up the 88 GXL I had to either sell or junk. I mentioned it when I looked here for information, some of it was quite helpful too. I have my FD and my 03 Lightning both burning 3.35 a gal fuel. This is just something to comute with the gas prices driving up and I recyled too! Work is 20 + miles from the house. GREEN BABY!! The right fender and hood are also off the 88 and the hood is aluminum I found on a convert in a pick a part

Gutted the 87 and the 88 and here is the result. Not quite the labor of love some have commited to I am sure, but I am 55 years young make decent wages and the guys at work wonder what the hell I am doing at times. My hobby is cars and have a few more than mentioned.

A couple more shots. S4 N/A with a K&N in the box, new single cat and that pacesetter cat back. GXL brakes sway bars and rear sub-frame.

Runs well, set the cruise and roll!

Must be refreshing pouring 87 octane in the tank for once.

I can't remember when I pulled up to that cheap pump!

When I say I gutted both cars, that's what I did. Dash, carpet, seats. Heck I even moved my leather wrapped steering wheel, all the plastic is out of the 88. It was originally an Ohio car so that was all pretty nice, rust was the death really and I wasn't going to replace that auto tranny again, gearhead in me gouldn't throw away all those good parts. Story on the motor was new Mazda rebuild and the car was totaled a week later, the price was right. I don't have 25K on it in the 88! It feels so much stronger in the lighter car with a 5 speed!

The 87 sat for 6 years in a garage and hatch area was storing fire wood! It was a mess inside, but only rust on this car is the sunroof pannel and it works too! Fuel pump was totally varnished, fuel strainer on the pump had to poke holes in it to drain it! Never in all my years have I smelled fuel that bad. Yet the car had a rebuilt alternator, A/C compressor with 134a conversion and new struts before it was parked for storge. Was a deal at $ 400.00 least I thought. My total investment is under $900.00 with new clutch, used rims, two new tires, catback, gaskets and that wrench and flywheel lock from Mazdatrix. I'll squirt some new paint this spring.

Thats the beauty of the Fc, the used parts exist.

I would throw some S5 rear view mirrors on before you paint.

MMmmm..nice project for you. I like the idea of new color, the red and black had a certain appeal to it, though. I am thinking on chaning my color but I can't figure out whether to go black, or maybe a dark midnight blue.

Just to show I did follow up on the GREEN car. Did a little body work and let Macco paint it. Have put over 10k miles on it and oil cooler lines have been replaced but other than that has been a reliable driver! Best mileage has been 26 MPG.
