did anyone or any shops tried a REnisis motor swap into an FC yet? if it works, maybe i'll start saving up for it. more power, better gas milage, same displacement. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif

It would probably cost a grip for R&R and custom fabing stuff, not to mention the engine itself, u'd be better with a TII.

phinsup 10-02-2002 03:41 AM

I don't there are any spare Renesis motors on the market at this point are there?

sleeperRX7 10-02-2002 04:17 AM

so far everybody I've known who has thought about the Reneses couldn't even install an engine made for the car. How do they think the thing will run with the stock ECU? :squint:

LOL, no ****!

That's a rather large assumption, to presume a motor is availible even before the car has been released!

pengaru 10-02-2002 01:05 PM

I dunno, I think I want the renesis for my next engine related project. Who cares about the stock ECU, just get a TEC3. The renesis is pimp according to specs https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

j9fd3s 10-02-2002 03:43 PM

it didn't seem like it, it didn't occur for me to ask them anything this weekend

zenki 10-02-2002 04:21 PM

from what i heard the renesis is smaller than the 13b. it would be cool to have one in a first gen with a turbo. the drive by wire might have to go though.

j9fd3s 10-02-2002 05:38 PM

the new formula mazda cars are putting, i think he said 240hp to the ground. they had one this weekend, it should fit into an fc no problem.

the problem is the drive by wire throttle bodies

we saw one in a car, it looked like a '78, 13b to me, until i saw the plastic intake, and the 3 tube header

Yeah, it seems good, but I just wish that people would think about ALL of the costs before they start. Who knows if the RX-7 transmissions will bolt right up to it? Then there are the flywheel/counterweight issues.

They're using the drive by wire stuff? That's cool. It can probably be controlled somehow with an auxiliary output that depends on a TPS, but who knows.

tunnel vision will bite you in the ass everytime...

I'm with Turbo II at this point, a 20B would be a far more attractive option, and the application has already been through R&D, most of the bugs have been worked out...a built 20B, TECIII, the correct running gear and what not, youve got a sweet ride to roll around in.

Let the the BIG MONEY boys work out the bugs on the Renesis...

vosko 10-02-2002 11:58 PM

i'd love a 20B i already have a tec III https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I personally don't see the problem, just get the 6 speed from the rx-8 along with the motor, one would want a 6 speed in the car anyways. Just get a custom prop shaft if needed and the rest should be relatively simple to work out. Tell me you wouldnt enjoy an FC with the renesis and a 6 speed manual. Only think I'd rather have is an RX-01.

dysthymia 10-05-2002 10:07 PM

Yeah, that RX-01 show car was TIGHT! OMG, I'd almost forgot about it.
