Hey guys, iam new to rotaries...actually the rx7 is my first car haha. i was wondering whether i could remove my catalytic convertor on the car. i heard that the backpressure built up in the cat is what opens the 5th and 6th ports? so does it mean if i remove the cat the 5th n 6th ports wont work?? thanks guys

Daniel.

theyll almost always still work with out the cat. Only way they wouldnt i can think of is if maybe it was really gummed up and wasnt working right to start with. Just make sure theyre operating and have a smooth movement to start with.

They do operate off backpressure.

Seppuku is saying that there is sufficient back pressure without the cat to open the ports, and I agree, as long as the components are in good working order.
