I spent the better part of 3 hours on Sunday removing my old A/C Logicon and putting in another one. It was pretty easy until I had to unplug one of the main plugs. They tucked that son of a bitch about as far away as possible next to one of the blowers. The problem is that there is all kind of hoses and **** in the way. I have multiple wounds on my hands to prove how difficult this was.



Also, the plastic in the FC's ain't worth a ****. you guys already know this. Everything I touched seemed to just disintegrate. Don't dare overtighten a screw in the slightest bit or you will surely snap something off.



And my last gripe.... Why do they not make wires just a little longer than needed so they are easy to put back in place without having to contort your body in some wierd way to reach them. For instance, the speedometer cable is just long enough to reach the connector onb the back of the instruments when they are in place. If you have to stick your hand in behind the instruments to try and reconnect the cable, it won't reach because your arm is in the way. They could make the cable a little longer. Same with two plugs on the back of the A/C logicon. They were taped down so tight I could not pull the A/C logicon out far enough to get my hands in behind to unplug them. Just make the wires a little longer, I mean God damn.



Sorry about the length. This was just a rant and also FYI for anyone deciding to pull apart their dash.

I had the same problem! I cut the wires all in half and then added my own plug:) That way it would be easy to remove. This was before I figured out how to unplug the Logicon:) All you need to do is pull off the top piece of plastic that is at the base of the windshield. You can pull off the whole thing by pulling out 3 screws and then you can access the Logicon plug with no problems;)

the speedo is pretty easy to disconnect under the car, it would have

taken about 2 minutes to do and would have given you some slack.



Live and learn, now I know if I ever have to do it what to expect.



That "piece of plastic under the windshield", is that on the outside

of the car? Because thats metal, or are we talking about a different thing?

That's what you get when you follow the manual. I should make up **** as I go along. I probably would have thought to unplug the speedo cable to allow for slack but the book said nothing about it so I did not even think about that. Good idea. Oh... and also, because there is so little slack in the speedo cable, you can't tell whether it is connected correctly until you put everything back together and drive it to see whether it works. At least that is the only way I could think of checking. Rob, first of all that Avatar you have is hilarious! The piece of plastic I am speaking of is inside the car where the windshield meets the dash. It has a center screw under a square piece of plastic and then 2 at the ends. It is right behind the defrost vents. When you pull that off you can access the Logicon plug.

What you speak of Cosmo does not exist on my 87 GXL. The defrost vents go all the way across with a center cap but there is nothing behind them and there are no access screws. These just snap into place. When removed, there is no access to anything.

Weird. Sorry about that:) On my 1990 Turbo it has that thing. I found out about it that hard way when I removed my dash.

Ohhhhh, I dont recall seeing such a thing, all I remember on the top

of my dash are the defroster vents.
