My sunroof had never worked since I bought the car, even with the

manual overide. So last night I removed the whole thing, took about

an hour with a friend.

Anyway, I discovered that the little tracks that run inside that copper (i think)

pipe are wrecked.. stripped in a couple of places, but overall, they are just stuffed!

So I was wondering if I can just order a new track section (you'll see what I mean by the photos), or do I need the whole sunroof assembly?

Thanks https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

I am pretty sure that you can get the replacement pieces from a mazda dealership. Or contact mazdarecycling and get an entire replacement.

Does anyone know the part number for the replacement track assembly then?

pengaru 08-17-2003 02:39 AM

sorry I don't know the part # you want but could you do us a favor and weigh that whole assembly before you put it back in the car? would be much appreciated, thanks.

phinsup 08-17-2003 03:02 AM

I did the same thing bought a new assembly off ebay cleaned it up lubed it, cost me $40 for the assembly. I dunno what they cost from MAzda.

j9fd3s 08-17-2003 11:26 AM

the parts are super hard to look up, and that whole assembly is really complex and its hard to get it working right again once you have it apart. i would put it back and pretend you dont have a sunroof

28 lbs with no skin? damn!

I wonder how much the skin part weighs, I might have to do something about that. It's way in the top of the car too, **** a bunch of that.

The assembly is 6.6kg, and the little panel weighs 4.8kg.

Hope this helps https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

I'm still confused about my problem though. So, can you get just the track section from Mazda? I don't want that whole assembly https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png

gazellis 08-18-2003 07:40 AM

Before the question gets asked...

6.6kg = 14.52 lbs.

4.8kg = 10.56 lbs.

Conversion is 2.2lbs/kg

Put a piece of lexan in there.. still get plenty of sun (if you want it.. put some SPF on your head in the summer) and save some weight. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Baldy 08-18-2003 12:38 PM

has anyone heard of adding one of those manual pop-up sunroofs? like the kind that people usually ad to a car with no sunroof to begin with

Turbo II 08-18-2003 01:07 PM

pengaru is always going for that super light weight car

Rob x-7 08-18-2003 10:13 PM
