What is a nice clutch, that is streetable, for, say, 350 ft-lbs?
Thanks |
the act heavy dute street strip would be nice, but that is about at it's power limit
I'd suggest the sprung 4 puck on www.mazdaracing.com built solid, not too hard to engage, and should last for a while even under that kind of power |
anything except the centerforce dual friction clutch
centerforce = teh crappy. kevin. |
i dont think theres quite a good answer for that question if u ask me because a street strip act clutch is quite good but i dont think itll take 350 foot pounds of torque and the clutch that will hold all that power is a 4 or 6 puck like i have sprung or unsprung its gonna eat out your flywheel in a few months... so u choose lol... if u have extra flywheels i would suggest a 6 puck sprung.. its not that hard to engage,, doesnt vibrate like an unsprung and can hold some good power.. just my opinion from experience

What about the Bonez Street-Comp Clutch from rx7.com? Is that any good?
|
The Clutchnet 6 puck with springs is pretty good.
|
I would say spend the extra cash and get a cluch flywheel combo. that way the clutch is matched to the flywheel.
|
350 ft/lbs? Your not putting in a V8 are you? if so then you need to shop around for a clutch that is specific to that V8
|
ACT and ClutchMasters ... but i've found better streetability with ClutchMasters!
|
ClutchNet and SPEC are now good competition for ACT... the Clutchnet stuff looks real good and they have a ton of disc options
|
specs really good..i had that in my mr2...even though their flywheel is just a fidanza with a sticker over the name
act ive heard a lot about being good...when / if i upgrade i will go with act street/strip disc and act xtreme pressure plate with a racing beat lightweight flywheel |
http://mazdaracing.com/clutch.htm.....how bout that one. How are Competition Clutch clutches. Anyone have any experience. I think i'd go with the street clutch. Sounds decent. Especially for that price.

http://mazdaracing.com/clutch.htm my bad. this one should work since its not part of another word...lol. I basically have the "bolt ons" intake, catback, highflow cat, header. Says it can hold the power for street ports. Heres the description for those who dont feel like goin there.
“Street” Series 2100 Supports up to 300 HP If you have a daily driver with "the usual" bolt-ons, and you just want a tougher clutch for street and occasional strip use, we've got just the thing. This clutch uses a full-face steel-backed friction disc for smooth and easy engagement, and a pressure plate that features a relocated pivot point so it can deliver a strong 2100 pounds of clamp load with only a 20% increase in pedal pressure. The package is rated at a conservative 300 hp to the wheels. This is a nice clutch package that will provide much longer life combined with excellent street driveability, and the ability to handle the power levels produced by ported NA Engines and mild turbo setups. Kit comes complete with pressure plate, disc, alignment tool, pilot bearing and throwout bearing. |
Well, I'm going with a bigger turbo this summer and a little porting. Sounds like the Clutchnet and SPEC are ecent clutches, eh? I'll check those out.
Thanks |
specs good...id go with act though
i tore my spec up in my mr2 in 3 months....it was faulty though and had a warranty replacement |
