i bought an 86 rx7 with TII and installed the motor in my 87 rx7. at first the motor didnt have oil pressure so i took it apart and the oil pump wasnt installed correctly. now that the oil problem is fixed, i installed the motor. when i tried to start it; it just cranked over. so i dissconnected the fuel pump and cranked it over again. the engine whith the starter turning tries to run for about ten seconds (rpms increase but not firing worth a darn) and when i plug the fuel pump back in and try to start it just cranks.



im pretty sure its flooding. could it be leaky injectors? fuel pressure regulator...?



keep in mind this is a fresh 0 mile rebiuld.

Put some 2-stroke oil in the spark plug holes and give it a try (with the fuel pump enabled). A fresh rebuild (depending on the quality of the housings/irons) could take a little coaxing to get to start initially. Once its running, let it idle for a good couple hours or take it for a nice long drive..



Though, initially having no oil pressure, I'd be a little concerned about your bearings... hope nothing bad happened.
