I found a rear strut bar from cp racing. http://www.cpracing.ca/ it is a 4 point strut tower bar. they say it would work great for a harness bar. what do you all think?

I thought to position your harnesses that low would not be too safe. I thought about that before with mine. Most recommend a roll bar or cage with a bar higher up around shoulder level. Having the harnesses mounted too low could cause your shoulders to be forced down instead of forward in a front collision. I don't know, they say its perfect.

I dunno I had them that low on my sandrail, I don't really know why it would be bad to have them that low, unless I am missing something.

It may compress your spine in a collision if their set too low.

the schroth rallye 4 harnesses sometimes mount to where the rear buckles are in some cars. and that is very low.

Just buy yourself a cheap ebay front brace and redrill the holes for the back and add some tube and form the bar higher, thats what i'm going to do soon. Of course if you can't weld then sorry.

i own one of their strut bars (well actually the tripoint front and the rear)



i dont see how they can say the rear "is designed for" harnesses....it doesnt have a built in place for them...its just a bar with some other bars. nothing specially designed for anything...other then being a bar.

It's a 4 point, looks like it's in there pertty solid. Usually other cars just use 1 bolt to hold their harness this would be like 6 or 8 or something. Is yours the 4 point? Or is it a 3 point bar? Does it really use holes that already exist?

you want the belts to be level or higher than your shoulders.... in a wreck... as your body puts pressure on the belts as you slam forward, the belts will have a downward pulling effect and crush your collarbones if they are mounted lower. Not something i would look forward to. Another thing i don't like about this bar is that it mounts FAR away from the seatback, which requires more seatbelt lenght. The longer the belt, the more movement you will get out of them. (think pendulum effect) If you're not gonna do a real rollbar or cage, i'd look at having a bar made that mounts to the TOP of the strut towers and atleast bring the belts up higher.
