you know the large 3 foot long plastic intake tube on the n/a's? well, tell me if this would work... or maybe i'm just an idiot. Do the hood mod (pop up back like a cowl induction) than mount the AFM (mass air flow sensor) directly to the throttle body.. (i have removed my charcol canister...cruise control... and cold start assist tank. so theres room for the cone filter in that area. make a metal/aluminum PLATE/shield to go under the filter... to protect from exhaust heat... WOULD THIS WORK? or i ask again, am i an idiot

uh, I think the way it works is by letting all the air coming in from the front of the car and underneath the car have a way to exit through the back of the engine compartment.. So it should keep the underhood area cooler,

yes, but would removing the tube that normally goes to the AFM and mounting the AFM directly to the Throttle body hurt anything? it would be somewhat of a short ram intake. And by looking at pictures of the aerodynamic profile of an Rx7 it looks like that area (trailing edge of hood popped up) would acctually act as an intake. (ram air) again, i could always try it out. I was just wondering if there's any benifits of doing so. Mike, any pics of the 'miata' set up?

ARG! dont you people read import magazines! lol I think last month in SCC or super street there was a Maroon FC in there by aerodyne industrys that featured some of there own products and one of them is an adjustable hood prop. It is $30 you should go check out there web site http://www.aerodyne.net Ive talked to some of the people there before and they seemed really nice, Ill see if I cant find a link to the mag article

cowl induction is technology that is older then any of us, including me, lol.



I have said plenty of times in the past that someone should mounth a air filter at

the base of the windshield versus the bullshit cold air set ups of throwing a $20 air filter right in the stock location sitting in the engine bay. Now someone just needs to do it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

I will work on is this weekend. including raising the rear of the hood... i will take pics and post them when i'm done.



I am also going to run the AFM directly to the throttle body with a nice conical filter mounted on the end (prolly will almost hit the fender) BUT i think it will work very nice. I never understodd the reverse hoods on cars. But damn.. all those cars with reversed hood and a carb.. the freaking air goes right in there..! absolutly genius design.

for all the people that think this feature will let air OUT of the engine, you are WRONG. this region is a positive pressure differential wrt the engine bay, normal to the windshield wipers. this means AIR comes IN, NOT OUT.



i just had to clairify, afterall, this is where you heater and A/C pull air into the car, the pressure pushes the air in. as a result, the air flow will just circulate within the engine bay, doing little to cool the engine. as for intake, that should work, or you could just drill a big hole above the tire fire wall and pull some air from there. i think because of the turbulance coming around the car and from the air flow from the brake ducts, this should pull in some good air.

well if it doesnt let air out... than it's gotta let air in. you say that that's how the Air/heater gets it air.. which is true... SO i figure, raise the hood (1 -1.5 ") mount the intake there, with a nice cold air box. And see if it yeilds any performance. If it doesnt or if i think it looks stupid i'll just reverse everything. It's not like i'm welding/cutting/ doing anything major..



Like i said. We'll see. I see dont under stand the whole pressure area thing. someone post that aerodynamic profile againe.
