https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/violin.gif I have an 88 GTU that the rear end needs to be welded but i've herd you can just tie it up with a chain and weld the chain and thats easier and does the job cause its a pain to weld the rear or to even find someone who is willing to do it. what do you guys think i should do? Or do you guys have any suggestions that you have done that works?
and please visist my site www.2rotor.com and sign the guest book and tell me what you think. :bigthumg: |
Do NOT weld your diff on a street car. Youll die the first time it rains.
|
Do you mean weld the diff to the subframe, or weld the gears inside together?
|
i think he means he wants to weld his diff to the subframe, i cant think of how you could weld the gears wth chain...
Justin |
Are you talking about welding the spider gears?
Or welding the diff to the diff mount on the subframe. I wouldn't weld the diff internals if the car is going to be a street car or track car. IT will make it tail happy. Especially like he said, in the rain is going to be crazy. IF the car is going to be a drag only vehicle then go ahead. Never hard of using a chain. C |
excactly what i was thinking.

I have a welded centre in my streeter, you need to be *aware* in the wet (as you do with an LSD) and it's a bitch in the carpark, but in any other circumstance its great. It will give slow turn-in & give you more understeer in a corner before the apex, but far more drive out. |
https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/37.gif yeah i ment welding it to the subframe just so when i change gears it doesn't keep hitting on the frame it sucks. alost every ger a " kucunk" sounds.

Didn't some company make a set of spacers to help out with that problem or am I thinking of some other vehical?
|
Oops. Whenever I hear welding the diff, I immediately think of the spider gears. I need to weld my diff mount also. I broke it a week after I got my LSD put it...
|
they do make steel front differential mounts.
|
Where can I find a steel front differential mount?

it would be easy if you didnt have to support the subframe, thats the bitch

Thanxs to everyone for the tips.
have you guys gone to my site? Tell me what you think. www.2rotor.com :bigok: |
yeah i just fixed mine bout 3 weeks ago. i called the mazda shop up here and they said it was $130. so instead i took my diff out(what a job that was, it went in alot easier than coming out) took the mount and weled a piece of metal to the top of the bracket on the diff to hold the rubber piece in. then i put it all back together. seems to be holding up alright for now. but im puttin in the tII diff soon.
