Really need some help, Overheating?

So I just picked up my first 1987 GXL RX-7 and it's pretty awesome, except for it's problems. :hahano: It's has a pretty bad flooding issue which I can over look for the time being but it's real issue is that it seems to be overheating. I will try to describe it to the best of my ability.

So once I am able to get it started it idles up to about 2500 and then slowly drops down to normal rpm, well actually a little lower(500-ish). Temp will stop at around half way when the car is still, once I start driving it goes up to 3/4th and thats where the fun starts. Once the car comes to a slow point (5-10mph) beeping comes from the dash and the car dies out. Should mention there is coolant smoke coming from exhaust and engine bay too after it dies.

After that happens, from under the hood, there is lot's of hot air and coolant coming out of the overflow tank. This thing is spitting out coolant whenever it gets the chance, along with the hot air. The overflow tank is also what looks like boiling at this point. Not just small bubbles, BOILING!

I have already replaced thermostat and tried draining the radiator but I am just at a stand still right now and need some expertise.

I will greatly appreciate all help, thank you!

Sounds like water seals are gone . to test fill radiator with water leave cap off and start engine and let run for a while if water starts to blow out of radiator very quickly your water seals are shot and engine needs rebuild

Yeah, it doesn't sound good. How many miles on the engine?
