my buddy has an fc sitting in his garage that has dry compression issues and he wants to just get rid of it now... and he has a full exhaust sittting in his garage waiting to go somewhere... mind you he kinda went the cheap route, but how do you guys think the pace setter header would be for my fc... right now i'm 3" all the way back from the stock manifold and i'm running a random tech cat and dual n1's it was always my plan to go with either a racing beat header or something custom made for my car, but i've seen the pace setter putting up bigger numbers for bigger exhausts... mind you i can get the header and all the gaskets for like 100 from my buddy so what do you guys think...

I havn't heard anything too great about the Pace Setter...You should just go with RB Header...If you got the 100 bucks to spend, might as well go with a header that will last. From what Ive heard, the PS cant hold up to the amount of heat the rotary puts out, and only lasts 1-2 years...*Just so you know, this is only from what I've HEARD, I have no actual exp with the PS header.

If you're getting an awesome deal on the header, get it.

Buy a Racing Beat header later if it fails?

I would have to agree with ColinRX7 on this one. When it comes to getting great deals I'm always up for it lol. Maybe I'm cheap but whatever ... I've got money to spend on other things lmao. Truthfully though, I haven't heard much about pace setter so I can't really tell you if they're "good" or "bad" but for $100 I think it's a good investment for now.

But, if you do get them though please post some kind of "review" lol. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

eyah that's pretty much what was going through my head... i've had this car for way too long without a header on there... and when i went to order from racing beat 3 years ago they gave me **** and wouldn't tell me if it would bolt up without some extra piping and they also wouldn't tell me if there was an o2 bung there... i've wanted it ever since, but hell with this pace setter deal i figure i might as well just blow 100 bucks and just see what it actually does for me... i don't think it's gonna die too quick my buddy hasn't used it at all it's still in the box all he's done is get the gaskets for it and he heatwrapped it to make it last a bit longer

the heatwrap is gonna kill it faster, trust me.

ColinRX7 04-16-2004 04:32 PM

Heatwrap will hold in moisture and crap, it will fall apart really quick (since it's mild steel).

Heatwrap is better off with stainless parts..

I had a PS header on my 86 for 2 years and it didn't leak, just had surface rust. Get the wrap off before you install it. If you want it to rust slower, strip all the black shipping paint off of it and coat it with a few cans of high temp exhaust paint. That black paint they put on it is to keep it from rusting when its boxed and on the shelf. Its made to burn off right away leaving the bare metal to rust. Also, check the flanges, if they're not smooth, smooth them out with a die grinder or a rotary tool. I did that on a couple ps headers since the build quality and welds are usually suspect.

A RB header is another 50 bucks or so not including shipping. The nopistons store has it.

nah pace header is economical but not really worth it, my frined had it in his FC and some way or another he destroyed it, its not constructed as good as the Racing Beat. Get the RB.
