I was told the best bet for my 86 n/a would be to move the air intake in front of the radiator...folks, let me know otherwise

Try it, and get back to us if you get anything good from the assdyno

the "ram air" effect is just a gimmick. Your not going to obtain positive pressure and get any kind of gain. Just try and find the easiest way to get cold air to the filter.

I have the KSP "ram air" headlight cover and it is useless except for looking different. Your best bet is to make sure you have a cold air box built if you have an aftermarket open intake. There is a write up on that at FC3S.org or you can buy one for I think $150 at Mariahmotorsports.com if you want to spend it. For any kind of cold ram air, you would have to do custom fabrication by either remounting your rad or cutting into where below the stock air box sits and running custom piping of some sort....

I really don't think it is worth the HP you would get.

just cut straight down where the stock filter in, and reroute the brake duct to feed cold air to an enclosed cold air box around an open filter.

If your stayin NA, go w/ the filter located in front of the radiator...best bet for a quicker/cheaper mod...

How hard is it to relocate the filter to in front of the radiator?

Rotaryman88 01-06-2003 08:20 PM

Not that hard, you will need to cut a hole about 2.25" or so to run a pipe or plumbing, but other then that its not that hard. Depending on what model/year NA you have, the overflow catch tank is located right where you'd want your filter, but you can relocate it somewhere else. I wish I had pics to help illustrate what I'm saying, but I dont, lol. Sorry. I'll look online and see if I can't find some photos, I know I've seen some guys w/ this setup...CAI is only good for about 3 to 7 horsepower over a common cone filter, there is only so much you can do...unless you have a modified TB, port/polish manifolds and a ported motor, your not going to notice huge gains.

Cut the hole where?
