Ok, after cleaning the inner water seal groove on the rear plate, it looks like there is minor pitting on the side of the intake ports. What it amounts to is that the bottom surface is rather uneven in a patch about 4" long. Will this pose any problems at all? If this is a common occurence, i'll just slap on new seals and go with it. Anyone else seen this?

Do you mean that the water seal groove is uneven, as if it was pushed out? That's not a good trhing, but you may be able to reuse it.

Darius, If your rear plate is questionable don't take a chance. I'll give you the one from my S5 NA. I think they are the same. Anyways, I'd hate to see you get that engine together and have something like that cause a future problem. I need to clean up the garage and I don't have a use for it.

I'll be in Norman this week so I can just drop it off or you can meet me somewhere if you want it.

No, it is not warped or anything. the bottom surface is not smooth because the old coolant between the oring and the surface has eaten away at the surface of the metal leaving a little pitting.

Mike,

I did not know you still had engine parts. I'll get the plate from you. It'll save me shipping costs https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I will be glad to meet you anywhere. I want to check your car out anyway.

I left your number at work but i'll call ya on Tuesday, THANKS!

When you use his plate just be sure that the intake ports on the manifold match up. They should, but just make sure.

Hey, no problem. I know how tough it is to get parts around here. I've got a lot of miscellaneous parts left over, almost all the wiring connectors, flywheel, intermediary plate, front cover, electric OMP, and some other stuff.

I'm going to be pretty busy this week, so if you can give me a couple days heads-up that would be great. If you want to get it Tuesday, just give me an approximate time of day so I can plan ahead.

BTW I went to the SCCA SOLO trials today @ OSU-OKC. It was pretty sweet. Performance Dynamics was there with their huge Mazdaspeed trailer along with lots of miatas, and three Rx-7's(one from each generation!). The first gen seven was badass!

I didn't run though, I blew my differential mount and there is just too much slop in the drivetrain now.

True, I was just thinking about that. Do the intake ports differ between S5 and S4?

Mike,

No hurry, but if you can get it Tuesday, i'll meet you somewhere at OU, say 8 pm? How does Llyod Noble sound? Any day after 7pm is fine with me actually.

I am pretty sure the s4 and s5 plates are the same. I can bring my old one to compare. You'll get to see what I am talking about.
