5 being the hardest 1 the easiest
I don't wanna sound like an ass but how hard is it really to change a drive shaft I've never done it. My car is an 88. how long should it take with basic tools one person and no lift? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif |
it's easy.
you probably want to remove the exhaust, then you just remove the 4 bolts on the flange @ the rear end, and the other end slides out of the trans. installation is the reverse. you just need the car in the air high enough for you to crawl around under it... |
cool man it should be even easier for me then cause i made my exhaust single. :bigthumg:
Thanx |
BTW, trans fluid will be coming out when you pull out the shaft from the trans... have the new one ready or something to plug it when you do the swap.

Thanx again https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif
If the drive shaft is vibrating alot like at 30 MPH and in each gear shift it makes rattling noise how long do you think I have? |
Scale 1 -5 ....I give it a 2. Cause you gotta get under the car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png
Super easy after that. just use a big screwdriver to jam the shaft so it wont turn when you try to take the shaft out.Jack it up evenly if you can so you dont have to worry about the tranny fluid coming out. :bigok: |
even if you jack it up evenly you will likely have fluid, it's at a low point in the trans which is relatively full of fluid. If you could actually jack it up unevenly with the nose down you would have less fluid issue. Just lift the rear of the car on jack stands https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
