I can't afford a TII, but I want a turbo'd car. I have an '86 n/a that I would like to put a turbo on. If I put a small turbo, and didn't boost it too high, I think it would be possible to throw a turbo on it. Please tell me if it is possible/practical, and what exactly would be a good setup, and how much the total cost would be. I really want a turbo, and the TII swap is too much (tranny, driveline, etc.) so I need some help. Any suggestions would be awesome. My n/a is BONE STOCK. Nothing fancy. I don't wanna blow my engine, but would like a slight boost, plus the BOV sound is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Sheckshee https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

FC3S.org is in the process of building one.

If you have to ask, the answer is no.

By the time you get everything installed and running reliably, you would have spent the same amount of cash for your turbo n/a as you would have just to buy another FC TII..
Just IMO, though. You could really skimp out on certain parts but then how reliable will it be? |
It's just that everyone wants a TON of money for a TII, and I can save up for parts, otherwise I'll spend the money on something else. I know, I suck.... The only seven in AZ for sale, is JDMJim's, and he's NEVER gonna sell it at that price.......he won't budge either......seems rather ridiculous to me......but who am I? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif

why does everyone think you cant turbo a NA? i spent about 1500 to 1700 grand on mine and i gurantee it will beat just about any turbo II with the same amount of money put into it as mine. dont get me wrong I love turbo II's and all. I used to have a tenth anniversary. but they go for a lot running so I decided to try to turbo my 6 port, and is it reliable? well im a 19 year old teenager with a heavy foot and it is my ONLY car so it is a everyday driven car. the only thing that sucks on it is the cold start https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png it takes about 5 minutes to start it up without dying off. but other then that it runs like a champ. not to mention the price for 6 port motors is waaaaay cheaper then a 4 port turbo motor.. Well from what ive seen it is. so anyone wanting to know my opinion on making a na turbo its go for it. the best money ive put into a rx-7 so far. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

PPL say they do not have enough money for a Tii then 12 months later they realize they are $3k deeper into this once N/A that if they had of just bought a Tii. Just buy a Tii man. Everything is beefier and it made for forced induction. Keep it simple. Just my .02 |

What he's saying though is he already has the car, so it's only 1700 for a "TII comparable car". If I had to buy a TII, I'd have to spend AT LEAST 3500 on the car, not to mention all the other stuff you have to do just to make sure it doesn't take a **** on you. A TII is nice, but for the price I'm looking for, it'd either be totaled, or a POS. I understand what everyone's saying, but I have literally a parts junkyard with about 10-15 different sevens (some of which are T2). I can see everybody's point, and I respect them all. I'll try to see which route is better. I'm leaning more towards TI 1/2.....(my word for turbo'd n/a).
