I had posted about a fuel leak I had, and folks suggested it was the pulsation damper. I got the correct parts, and got to working. While unplugging stuff from the throttle body, I noticed (with the help of Haynes manual) that where the fuel leak is, is not where the pulsation damper is. The pulsation damper is on the secondary fuel rail, right (the lower one)? The leak is at the end of the primary fuel rail (the upper one?), closest to the firewall. Should I replace the pulsation damper anyway? Or if it's working, should I just keep the factory one in? I have yet to plug everything back up, start it, and actually feel the damper going.

And what should I do about the fuel leak on the upper rail?

the upper rail is the secondary and the lower is primary. is the leak coming from something with a vacuum line on it(fuel pressure regulator)?

I've seen the pulsation damperner swapped with the fuel regulator in some motors, specially with the jspecs.

IF the fuel regulator is on the primary it should be changed to go on the secondayr, (longer rail).

A hint, The PD has no vacuum fitting, while the fuel regulator does.

I reread the post. The top rail is the seconday while the lower is the primary,(shorter). You should check the orings on the fuel inejctors and/or the oring on the fpr is bad ro the whole unit is. This is the secondary rail, the top one, longer one.

I hope you're not driving it.

I'd replace the PD regardless since you have it. I've never heard of the fpr's leaking, ususally PD or injectors. Is the leak at the other end where the fuel line connects to the rail??

Replace it

Baldy 02-09-2003 07:27 PM

I'm not driving it.

So, I'll replace the PD with the one I got from Banzai (thanks, banzai!). The factory one has not been switched with the pressure regulator.

The leak is not from the fuel injectors.

There is fuel on and around the fitting at the end of the secondary fuel rail that is closest to the firewall. Looking at the factory manual on fc3s.org, I see that the leak is at the opposite end of the fuel pressure regulator. Is there an o-ring there or something that I can change?

huh, maybe you have a tear in the fuels lines, I had that happen to me before.

Get a fire extinguisher( you should have one in you car!) and start the car and watch it, thats what i would do.

Baldy 02-09-2003 08:41 PM

ok...I guess I'll do that after I change the PD and do some other stuff...I'm thinking I'll do the tb mod, and that top fuel rail is easily accessible
