Hey all, other than having to make custom mounts and a custom drive shaft what are the pros/cons of using a 1st gen short pinion set-up?
|
Bad gas mileage.
|
the pro is that you can use any of the off the shelf gears! fc sucks for gears!
in short pinion they have 3.7 3.9 4.1 4.3 4.4 4.7 |
Mazdatrix used to carry an adapter to put 1st gen gear sets into the FC - it was sort of a shaft extender. I don't know if these are still available but it would make your job a whole lot easier.

My dad suggested this the other day when we bought a GXL diff. He thought that the smaller FB/SA steel differential part would be lighter. Is there a big difference?
I think I am going to just say screw it and get 4.3 from a GTUs or get a them new. |
goin 4.3 will make your quicker and more torque but worse gas milage
