Just because Im trying to get some traffic in here,

I have the car all apart, it gets easier and easier everytime, and the same

crap gives problems all the time. A example would be the front bumper, I have yet to take one off without at least one of those piece of crap 10mm bolts snapping off that hold it to the fender. And they are studs actually attatched to the support for the front bumper.

Oh well, good thing new supports are like $14, lol.

It was a pleasure not to find ANY old body work anywhere on the car, I have most of the little parking lot dings taken care of with the exception of the drivers door which I will finish Monday and probably and put 3-4 coats of epoxy primer on the entire car Monday as well, no spot priming. Its actually going alot easier then I thought, the doors were filled with stupid little parking lot damage, a few stud gun pulls here and there, grinded and skinned the whole door and now its smooth as glass.

I was actually hating the the project, now Im excited to work on it again Monday!

Rob, if you're so used to this now, why don't you post on the TRI7 mailing list and look for side jobs? I plan to get mine painted within the next year and one thing that concerns me is someone not familiar with bodywork and painting an FC. It make take them longer which would cost me more labor or they would rush for a set price and do a half ass job. Is painting your full time job?

I remember there was someone not too long ago who sent out a message that he was painting RX-7s on the list, cant remember who it was?

I am keeping close track of how long this is taking me so I can figure out a fair price to charge someone if they were interested. Shame of it is there are too many people who think you can get a quality paint job for under $1500. Its not going to happen, but maybe with the owner of the car taking the car apart and putting it together something can be worked out?

While I am a painter, I normally work on boats, there is more money in boating, out labor rate is going up to $115 an hour, a body shop gets paid $38 an hour here to do insurance work. If I work on a boat on my own on my day off, I can usually make at least $700-$900 ( doing little bullshit repairs not full paint jobs) and have half the aggrevation of a car, I like working on cars and as long as someone is willing to pay for a quality job I have no problem painting thier car. My paint job is 4 years old now on my vert so it can speak for itself.

i know what you mean about the cars coming apart easier, i broke the same studs, one of the supports was all bent up, someone did some "body work" on my fc. well cool rob i hope this vert comes out as nice as your other one (if not better)
