Hello all, this is my first post here. I read a couple of posts along the same lines as this but I'd like to hear some of your problems and resolutions with the Turbo2.



1. Rear end mount, was mentioned in a previous post and is characterized by a rear end clunk when the clutch is engaged. What's the fix? How much?



Like another guy here I'm looking at purchasing a Gen2 Turbo 2 that looks identical to the one in everyone's favourite Anime, Initial D. My wife's co-worker is planning on selling and I got a chance to drive it. It's mint. No rust (in Canada that's a rarity), very clean, around 220,000km on the original engine, first owned by a middle aged gentleman who bought it during a midlife crisis and left it in the garage for years. The person currently owning it has never raced it but is responsible for most of the mileage over the past 3 years. It's completely stock. Not a single mod has been applied to this car at all.



I understand the rotary engines are delicate, what should I look for when driving it? How long do they "last"? What kind of engine swap possibilities are there? What about the 5spd ... problems? Electrical? I would appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks

the fix for the rear end mount is simply buying a new one, I'm going to be getting a polyurathane (spell check anyone?) mount for it after i get payed, depending on the quality you want depends on the price, they are pretty inexpensive though... mileage on the cars, depending on how they are driven, can run anywhere from 150K to 250K... the better maintenance given to the car the more you get out of it... the rotary is a high maintenance engine when you try to put more power through it, but that goes with all of your cars... and I had electrical problems with my TII but I just spent 2000 dollars I didn't have and fixed it :tounge: but if they are kept up they will last a long time...



don't know what the conversion from kilometers to miles is...

The bigger question is what year is the TurboII your looking at? 87/88 or 89+? There are many differences in these years...overall though, the FC is a clean somewhat reliable car. Its all in how much effort you put into maintenance. My NA went 111,300 before it blew...but I modified it and raced it regularly. There aren't many problems with them. After age, the flood a little easier, but that can be fixed with a few little tricks. There are a few little things, but nothing that any other car doesn't have...

my car has got 141,000 on it and it runs great! But then again it was babied whole life, and well maintenced, im mean damn i just had my injectors cleaned, they had never been cleaned/replaced before, and they were all in Good condition and almost at 100%, they're supposed to be cleaned every 4 years.

Thanks for your responses guys, I've been thinking it over the past day or 2 now and I'm starting to really like the idea of getting the FC. I know this is probly blasphemy here but I'm considering using it as a winter car. I currently own a 99 Prelude and altho it's not the fastest car in the world I'm bent on babying it. That means no harsh Canadian winter driving for her. But either way this white FC is so clean I'm so tempted ... heck if it's really that nice I may sell the Lude https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png



BTW, I believe it's either an 86 or 87 but for sure not a 89+. Rotaryman88 what kind of differences were you alluding to?



Oh and, when the engine "blows" what's the most logical replacement? How is the availability of engines?

Um u would want a rebuild, and what parts need replacing depends on whats blown and how it blew.
