I have an 88 (unsure of model due to stripped badges), that is smoking like a freight train! The car starts and runs good, has lots of power and torque. I checked the oil and it seems that the P.O. had used some extremely light weight stuff. Seems like 5w-30. Would such a thin oil cause seepage into the rotor chamber? What else should I check? Any help would be appreciated. TIA

you could try a thicker oil, but if its all oil smoke, then id fear the oil control rings are fried.... this could of been caused by running low on oil, or over heating the car, and it over heats hte rotors which fries the control rings, allowing oil to seep past under pressure....

if that is the cause a rebuild is the only solution.... however if you can put up witht he smoke or the smoke clears up when the car warms up, then you can keep driving it with out further problems really...

it could be a turbo if u have one

No turbo, I'll try the correct oil for it and see what comes of it. It's kinda funny to watch it go down the street. Ever played the old school "spy hunter" thats what it's like.
