how affective would a presilencer be to tone down my exhaust, got multiple tickets this week loud exaust ,sticker across the front of windshield and failed to show license and registration. my setup is rb header apexi n1 style mufflers w/ straight pipe would a presilencer tone me down?
im really sad because i love the sound and performance but i know its a lil loud i dont want a converter |
A presilencer should help, but it will probably still be very loud with those N1 mufflers.

thanks ace i took some other helpful advice you gave away a while back i run 93 octane but also use quicksilver two stroke oil because the oil lowers the octane right?

One gadget you must have is a variflow exhaust valve. It shuts off to keep your exhaust quiet - holding back pressure. and can open up under throttle or boost to let as much gas as possible out.
http://www.autospeed.com/A_0893/page1.html...src=suggestions Mines not by the same manurfactuer but the principals the same set at 2 psi car is almost as quiet as stock at idle and highway speed even, but i only have a medium volume competition muffler, so when it opens right out its very loud by contrast (all 800hp worth of noise). also a good idea is to make high boost lock the valve right open. but on low and off boost to give a constant backpressure. this helps overcome large overlaps and keep response up too |
you can also get one of those round walker mufflers, they should make it acceptable

these also help. http://www.rotormotorsports.com/apn1siltipdu.html

The RB presilencer on mine toned it down big time to a more low growl rather than the common straight pipe to muffler chainsaw sound. It's true though, the N1 is loud as hell. You may want to look into Apex's silencer for the muffler itself.... think it's around $40.

There are other things you could plug them with, but that may get you life. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif |
ITs useless with those mufflers, I went with a converter, it barely quieted down the exaust, I have Borla by the way, Dump those N1s, and get the Racing Beat system. High Octane on a N/A- waste of time and actualy worse isnt it????
|
yeah the higher octane just made my car backfire even more than it does now ... i have several exhaust leaks... it runs fine on regular

I have the RB streetable header and presilencer on my S4, one day leaving the bone yard my Y pipe to presilencer flange broke off the Y pipe (rusted original), **** was it loud. I don't think the presilencer does much silencing at all, it didnt seem any quieter than when I ran it with an open header. However, with the RB Y pipe and RB mufflers, the car is still a bit loud but the tone is very sexy. The RB mufflers have done most of the silencing and brought the tone to very enjoyable levels. With the stock mufflers on the header/presilencer combination it just sounded like a tinny weed wacker from hell with a hint of YZ125 2 stroke expansion pipe ring to it.

Pre silencer does dick in my opinion.

Bumble bee's in a beer can is cool with me! Loud pipes save lives.
