Can N E 1 here do this? Just wondering. I think my car is so sick in the torque aspect that it won't do it. That, or my brakes just suck that bad. When I try it, the car just shutters back and forth and almost dies. What gives?

1Revvin7 07-16-2003 04:04 AM

I am not sure what you mean? As in trying to do a break stand?

isamu 07-16-2003 10:04 AM

How high are you revving the engine to?

75 Repu 07-16-2003 10:08 AM

get a line lock for the front..

vosko 07-16-2003 10:24 AM

i could do a brakestand in just about anything including my BLAZER!

rev it to 8k rpm and dump the clutch. then mash the brake pedal and gas pedal........lots of smoke will occur https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

You're right, I give the engine 8K...and lots of smoke will occur. Only problem is that it's the engine that's smokin'. The wheels are not spinning. I usually try it @ 6K, though. Shouldn't it still do it? My Ranger will do it like it's nothing. It'll spin until the tires fly off. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/v1.gif So ya'll call it a breakstand. In the southeast, we call it powerbraking. And a line-lock should not be necessary.

Baldy 07-16-2003 02:43 PM

I live in the southeast, and I've never heard of powerbraking https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif . Or brakestanding, for that matter.

I've just heard it called a "burnout." Is that so wrong?

Geoffman72 07-16-2003 04:21 PM

Dump the clutch so as it will break the tires loose and IMMEDIATELY jump on the brakes enough to stop the car but not so much as it feels like its putting a big strain on the car. This is how I've done brakestands in every manual tranny equipped car I've owned.

Oh, and make sure you aren't clutchstanding instead! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Rob x-7 07-16-2003 04:53 PM

ouch baby, very ouch

75 Repu 07-16-2003 05:03 PM

Line lock is not necessary, but I think it is better..

WishIhadaRX7 07-16-2003 05:06 PM

Line lock is cool, but ABS is more usefull IMHO

Nemesis 07-16-2003 05:25 PM

The real question is.... WHY? Do you just like to burn up tires and stress out your drive train?

isamu 07-16-2003 06:16 PM

I've always called it power breaking.

ChainSawOnSteroids 07-16-2003 06:21 PM

power brake here in NYC, and burnout as well

my way is holding the brake with your right foot just enough so you can hit the gas with it as well, and rev while holding the brake and gas pop the clutch and smell the smoke

éêëè

mwuhahahahahaha.. works for español too..

Anyways, I think a line lock is Just better cuz you aren't putting wear on the rear breaks.. or making the engine fight them..

WishIhadaRX7 07-16-2003 06:37 PM

Ah ha! Touché!

75 Repu 07-16-2003 06:39 PM

I know how to do it! I've done it @ least once in everything I've owned. The question is why won't my car do it. Is something possibly wrong with it? I know the brakes act crazy alot.

NEMESIS: Why not? It looks cool. Besides, that's what everyone does @ the strip.

Repuuuuuuuuu: Is a B2600 a pickup truck? I knew there was a 2000, 2300, 2500, 3000, and a 4000.....but didn't know there was a 2600. Those are engine sizes.

1Revvin7 07-17-2003 01:02 AM
