So if you do pull your power steering pump and want to reroute the hoses so you can still use your power rack, which ones do you reroute?
|
i didnt re route any. i plugged the two metal lines with jb weld and turned the steering wheel until fluid stopped coming out of the rubber line against the front drive side wheel well and plugged it with a piece of bar stock and clamped it. it works for me? does anyone if you have to re-route the lines? the rack is full of fluid so i dont think it will hurt anything if you dont?
sleeperRX& is sleeping :yinyang: |
I just left my rack full of fluid and plugged up the holes left by removing the hoses.

I just tried getting my power steering rack off, and omg that thing is on there hard. I used a breaker bar and though i was going to break the rachet. :o
|
No, my car certainly isn't treating me very well these days.
|

I can't afford anything right now...I don't even know when I'll be able to get a water pump. :(

Don't look at me I didn't do it!

Hmmm...did you plug the lines on the rack itself?

shouldn't have done that. there is still air and fluid in the rack, and as you turn the wheel, the plunger inside the rack compresses those fluids. since liquids are incompressible, something will have to give. most likely, that will be a seal.
|
So what do you actually plug then ? And does anyone know the sizes of the bolts to plug these up.?
|
bolt sizes: 2 M12 x 1.25, 3/4" long
1 M16 x 1.5, 3/4" long |
Now Do I take off the metal lines that are connected to the rack? I notice the line is connected to a little block that connects to the rack. Should I attempt to take off the line from the block or the block that is connected to the rack( or atleast i think it comes off...cant see in there well)
Also one of the lines Is just a bitch to get off....hardly any room down under there. Started to strip the nut a bit...Is there any special way of getting those off? |
