Does the power steering in a 2nd gen have a condenser? I took the lines and pump out (about 30 Lbs) but i am working on getting pretty much everything i DONT need off or out of my car.

Any idea how heavy our front and rear bumper reinforcments are? I would like to dump those as well.

My goal : 200 HP/2300 lbs.

relisys190 04-19-2003 10:31 PM

Wait maybe i'm just an idiot. Why in Theeee Hell would i ask that question if i could go outside and look. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683358.gif

Any idea on the bumper reinforcements though?

SeventyMach1 04-19-2003 11:18 PM

I'm a little curious there, too. I could go look as well, but I didn't feel like tracing it down since it ran behind a metal plate behind the headlight. Would that be the same condenser used for the A/C? Took that off, too. Like U, I wanna get rid of anything I possibly can. Man, that P/S--A/C assembly weighs like 100 lbs.!!! How did U plug your banjo fittings? U don't want dirt and trash to get in there. For now, I've wrapped mine in electrical tape around the orifices and put the bolts back in.

There's no condensor for the PS.. not sure why there would be one. The PS lines do run in front of the AC condensor for cooling though. Pull all that out up front.

on a street car i would leave the bumper reinforcements in, that way if you hit something, or somethign hits you the cars not fooked. 2300lbs should be no problem for an na

Yeah the lines were what i was talking about.. oops i should have just gone out and looked but...

Anyway i removed them last night with a little wiggleing and time... Still cleaning out the closet (engine bay)

Rotaryman88 04-21-2003 11:38 AM

200HP @ 2300lbs...not bad....should be pretty quick. yea...be sure to get out as much weight as possible up front, and personally..i feel the rear of these cars NEED some weight....

My weight to power ratio goal is 415hp @ 2450lbs.

relisys190 04-21-2003 12:05 PM

why does the rear of our cars 'need' weight?

How much do those damn bumper reinforcements weigh! anyone know.

Any idea how i can get my car on a scale to find out how heavy/light she is?

I'm guessing it has to be something like 2500 (without me) by now. I have removed alot including getting a light exhaust and all the crap i dont need in the engine bay. PLus i want Fiberglass fenders and i'm trying to find an aluminum hood. damn their hard to find!

j9fd3s 04-21-2003 12:13 PM

the bumper reinforcement in the front is like 10-15lbs, its not that heavy. the glovbox door is heavier

relisys190 04-21-2003 12:29 PM

I dont want to completly Strip the interior. WELL, Maybe https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png

I want atleast the carpet. Any idea how to get the 'TAR' out from under the cabin area carpet! it's a Pain in my right ass cheek! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png

Markus.

you need the tar stuff to be super cold and then it comes off in big chunks with a scraper. if you heat it it just gets gooey

You can usually order dry ice from a grocery store. Just call around and ask, they might make you pay up front though since it would be a special order item. Or you could just look for a place in the phone book.

relisys190 04-21-2003 02:07 PM

where do i get dry ice???

P.S i bet the chassis looks nice and shiny under all that Tar huh? THat's what my other goal is.

Take all carpet and tar and **** out just have Dashboard, seats and a couple of ECU wires running up the side of the chassis tub. Should be clean under the carpet/tar... otherwise i'll just do some cleaning.

Rob x-7 04-21-2003 03:26 PM

relisys190 04-21-2003 03:41 PM
