Hey 2nd gen guys,

I may be going to look at a TurboII sometime in the next few days as a possible purchase - anything I should look for? I own a 3rd gen, so I know the many problems to look for there ( https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub... ), but don't know much about 2nd gen's and possible problems they might have.

Thanks for any info. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

common problems with Turbo IIs (as far as what I have run in to) include :

1. The rear end mount, this thing goes out quite a bit from what i understand, mine is currently out...it doesn't mean that you can't drive the car, I still drive my car pretty hard and it hasn't caused any damage YET.. but to check that just slip it into gear and let the clutch out, if it is out then you'll hear a clunk in the rear end...

2. also look for the the normal things when buying a used car, such as mileage ( anything over 150K should bring the cost WAY down) wreckage, overall condition, how many owners the car has had, what type of person owns it (old people tend to drive cars easy, young ones drive them hard...also their type of profession)...etc, etc...

other then that I don't really know of problems they have that are common...

also, there is a site that you can go to that you put in the VIN number and it will give you the DMV history on the car, such things as how many owners the car has had, the mileage each owner got it at, give you the condition of the title (reconditioned, salvaged, clean)...etc...

If you are serious about buying the car go to here and you car run the vin and check the car's history. It costs around $12, but it could be worth it.
