Hey guys, I've heard of some people saying if I wanted to spend the money I should take my non turbo rx7 and drop in a 20b motor in it's place. Is this all possible or? I'm kinda new to the rotory motors.. i have an 89' rx7 and i just put an exhaust, intake, race clutch, quick shifter, and a few other light mods on there... any help would be appreciated. I'm wanting a turbo now that I got my ass handed to me by a mustang GT. so... help help... where do i find a 20b and what would be the damage report?

thanks guys.

You are looking at possibly at over 10k for the swap and I think i'm understimating the number. Naturally, it would be cheaper if you are doing everything yourself and not having someone else doing it.

a 20B swap is possible and not THAT common, but not uncommon either. It depends on what kind of $$ your looking spend. If your new to rotary, I don't suggest it unless you've got the $$ to have somebody do it for you. Just pull your NA motor and it streetported and better internals and spray a 75shot or something, lol. Or you can do a turbo 13b swap like me, either choice is still way cheaper then doing a 20b.

the 20b swap is expensive, and requires a lot of custom/fabricated/modified stuff. it also gets poor gas mileage (11-14). you also need to port the engine and replace the turbos to get more power from it

Just get a modified TII or buy an FD (ladies love the FD) with the money that you's spend on the 20b. A 20b would be crazy fast, though.

Not to sound like a smart-ass: But; IF you have to ask, you probably can't afford it!

mike, would you say it's worth all the work? Or would a ported 13b-rew with a large single turbo be a better choice?

stick with a ported S5 motor. Its easier and less painful. Even a 13B-RE isnt all that easy.

i think a single turbo 13b would make a better balanced car, and its a lot easier
