Wsup? I was just wondering if the later 2nd gen RX-7's are posi rear end? Because I know they made some changes from 88-91. I'm also pretty sure their earlier ones were posi, and I'm just wondering if they kept them that way throughout the 2nd gens? ???

phinsup 01-15-2002 11:40 AM

I think they were all posi, but not sure, I am moving this to 2nd gen discussion... will get more attention here, sorry I'm not more helpful!

vosko 01-15-2002 11:53 AM

its sort of confusing but

88 GTU = 4.33 LSD 89-90 GTUs = 4.33 LSD 86-88 GXL, SPORT = 4.10 LSD 89-91 GXL, GTU = 4.10 OPEN 86-88 BASE & SE = 4.10 OPEN 87-91 T2 = 4.10 LSD . i think that's all the second gens :sigh:

RX-7BABE 01-15-2002 06:49 PM

Wsup, So basically are you saying that a 1990 gxl does not have lsd? And could it have been an option to the person buying it? Kind of like some cars and trucks nowadays you can choose from rear wheel or all wheel drive. Or somethin' like that. :tounge:

Vosko, I think the lsd on the sports is an option. Mine didn't come with one. It was open.

I've got the '88 brochure, and an LSD is an option for every model..I could have special ordered an SE w/ LSD. I didn't know that until you all started talking about this. Oh, Rx-7Babe...your a chick? Thats really cool! Not too many Rxgirls in here...actually..you may be the first.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png welcome.

Babe's talking about positraction, not limited slip, No rx-7s came stock with positraction. I have seen an aftermarket differential( or piece) to make posi, though, like 700! my car is no one wheel wonder anyway- https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

vosko 01-15-2002 11:12 PM

well my gtu has open diff. but i can lock it and leave two strips. just takes dropping clutch @ 7000 rpm https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Thanks guys, and I guess I was talkin' bout lsd, if I confused anyone. Which is basically both rear wheels pusing. But I didn't mean to confuse it with traction control. I just sort of always have that word "posi" stuck in my head. I just kinda always call it that. I guess I'm gonna have to light em up to find out.(LOL) Oh yeah, and it would be cool if I'm the only girl whose been in here.- https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/BURNOUT.gif :p

That puts a whole new spin on our F.N.G tags that show up for newbies.

Welcome!

We need some female viewpoints in here I think, helps to keep things balanced.

phinsup 01-16-2002 12:47 PM

F.N.G. still applies, she's just F'n New Girl, instead of the F'n New Guy.

LOL, welcome aboard, we're glad you found us!

Gotta have the :yinyang: keeps us balanced.

Rotaryman88 01-16-2002 06:17 PM

lol, i was gonna say very nice, but then i startd thinkin about other stuff with all this F.N.G. talk and BABE.

Bohrn 02-09-2002 11:22 PM

this is probably a really old thread, but I came across it in a search.

positraction is a marketing name owned by General Motors. It is used to describe thier limited slip differential. Ford calls thiers Traction-Loc and Dodge calls thier Sure-Grip. All the same idea. So unless you slipped a Chevy rear end in your Mazda(god help us all LOL ) you don't have Positraction, but you may (i hope so) have a lsd.

ps, I'm not trying to be a dork, I just wanted to help out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
