OK I had a crappy turbo xs bov the cheapest one and got compressor surge, now I have the apexi twin chamber I just got today, It still barely blows off its like a quick pitiful psst but my car still flutter like compressor surge like it always has.. I have the vac line hooked right from where the stock vac lin for the bypass valve went, no "T's".How would i adjust my apex bov for the best flow for 10psi, really soft or hard, any input would be great.

Having any BOV, it's strange that you're experiencing compressor surge. I don't suppose our cars had stock shutter valves did they? I know that in my friend's CA18'd 240SX, he has no BOV, but the shutter valve sounds just LIKE compressor surge where it's like "chu chu chu chuuu" somethin like that..

As long as all the vacuum lines are hooked up correctly, you shouldn't be experiencing compressor surge.

are you sure your just mistaking compressor surge for hesitation because your BOV is venting to atmosphere instead of back into the intake?? Im not sure if you are running a stand alone or the stock ecu. But the stock ecu gets grumpy if your BOV vents to atmosphere....

Is your waste gate ported?

In the cold winter air, the turbo puts out way more boost.

No its not hesitation, I know the stock ecu sucks, its not hing like that, im running 10psi and my bov barely vent same as the last one I had, and its making the chu chu chu! sound like compressor surge.

Why does that matter, im running 10psi I can see it on my gauge,LOL

OK - is the BOV control hose tapped in after the TB?

Is the restrictor pill only in the pressure sensor line?

drunkin_idiot 01-20-2005 01:00 PM

No the line is going straight from the uim to the bov

sureshot 01-20-2005 01:04 PM

OK (the UIM is after the TB)

What about the restrictor pill?

drunkin_idiot 01-20-2005 01:08 PM

Dont have one i dont think, what line would it have been in?I think I have them somewhere, I hope.

It should be towards the pressure sensor, to buffer it from surges & spikes.

Some Tee off that hose for the BOV, you just need to Tee on the manifold side of the restrictor.

It sounds like you ran a seperate hose. Cool..

drunkin_idiot 01-20-2005 01:23 PM

Well I have a seporate line ran from the UIM to the pressure sensor also a seporate line off the UIM to the blow off valve, they both have their own line, I re did my lines so I think I accidently got rid of the restrictor pill.

Dramon_Killer 01-20-2005 09:17 PM

restrictor pill bla bla bla.

Dude, make sure the vacuum line is on the right nipple on the BOV.

If there's two try switching it to the other one.

Lionheart240 01-20-2005 10:30 PM

I have my BOV hooked right into that part on the UIM that's above the turbo, towards the firewall.

The 3 nipples on the UIM/LIM (I forget which), the top 2 are capped, and the bottom one I have spliced in with the BOV.

Basically, My BOV and boost gauge are spliced in together.

Reads 100% accurate, 100% of the time.

BTW....anyone know what the CORRECT vacuum should be, give or take? I've got full 3" exhaust with a 3" resonator, no cats....it is normally at the 16, but sometimes the idle is higher because it's at like 17+... Is THAT normal?

o_O?
