I'm still waiting for the new CD player. Should get it today. Anywho, here are some pics with my old RB full exhaust put on and newly painted rims.

Finally... The gauges!

Seppuku 03-18-2003 04:13 PM

your shifters missing.

rmaiersg 03-18-2003 04:13 PM

I just noticed that i posted the pic with the right exhaust tip hanging low. The muffler fell off a mount it's fixed though.

rmaiersg 03-18-2003 04:17 PM

Yeah. I'm making a short shifter. I pulled off the black thing and I'm threading the shaft connected to the ball and then put a sleeve over that and then some threads on top of that. I'll post those pics when that's done.

i like the wheels, they look better white

mike

rmaiersg 03-18-2003 11:07 PM

$140 dollars is not that cheap. It's not that important of a part to buy just yet. I'd rather buy other, more important parts now. Some time in the future I'll buy one but while I still have other things to do that goes to the bottom of my list. I'll settle for the cost effective option for now

ILUVMY88CABRIO 03-19-2003 02:34 AM

Hey, that's where I mounted mine, copy cat!! How did you mount it? Mine is flush with the surface below the radio. Thank god I work at a machine shop. Autometer gauges are better than stock. I mounted mine where there is the vent above the logicon.

serpent12 03-19-2003 03:25 AM

Its looking good https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png . Why is the S-AFC mounted up the top in the fourth pic?

Racer X 03-19-2003 05:34 AM

Nice interior your going to have.Love the guage setup on the A-pillar.That momo wheels is a nice touch. Those wheels in white make the car look 10 times better.Your car is starting to look https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bling.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Thanks guys I took the pic of the S-AFC installed after the gauges. There were gauges under the radio so i just filled up the holes with epoxy then sanded it and painted it. It was fairly simple. I should have the cd player in tonight.

Looks to me like its just sitting on top of the ac controls. He was probably running wires when he took that pic.

rmaiersg 03-19-2003 07:39 PM

rmaiersg 03-20-2003 09:51 PM

That's pretty neat but the S-AFC is cash money so I gotta show it off. What's with the plastic cover over the ashtray. The two 7's I've had both have had the greenish/yellow discoloration. Is that from like smokers before me or is it just the plastic going bad? Which gives me an idea. Would it be possible to dye it with Rit dye. I colored my plastic R/C parts with that stuff back in the day. It worked perfect for those but is the plastic different and would it warp or melt or something like that if it goes into boiling water?

happyman 03-20-2003 10:06 PM

yeah but cash money makes it look good to break into.

rmaiersg 03-20-2003 10:12 PM

Yeah, true. I'm gonna tint the window like a mofo when i get it running. I hope that helps deter the thiefs, plus I live in the burbs so I'm not too worried and I dont go into the city that much.

And Erik that pic is hilarious in your signature. Is that you? And is that a mullet?

Blink 03-20-2003 10:33 PM

nice .. I have mine mounted in the ashtray.. well I ganked the ashtray and put it in there. It's not a clean install since it has spaces around but It fits and it doesn't slide around yet still easily read due to it's angle.

Nemesis 03-20-2003 10:43 PM

What are the main differences between the S-AFC and the S-AFC II? I've seen a ton of RX-7's with the S-AFC, but none with the S-AFC II. Is there any reason for that, or is it just because it is much newer?

rmaiersg 03-20-2003 11:03 PM

It's the newer model of the S-AFC I don't think they sell it in the states. I've seen it on ebay a lot though. bl|nk, you should cut out a hole where the S-AFC can stick out so that you can see it still and you won't have the spaces around it.

naaa it's forsale.. ordered microtech tonight to replace my brittle engine harness and so i can ditch the MAF https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

i'm happy i didn't cut anything up cause this setup only lasted like a month ahah

Blink 03-21-2003 02:44 AM

oh yea and the S-AFC comes in 3 models. 1st being old old skool knob style adjustment. 2nd gen the one I have and maiersq has. 3rd gen (S-AFC II) same functions as the S-AFC (2nd gen) but with different display and it now taps into the knock sensor.

now whats wrong with autometer gauges?. Is that a RB exhaust?

ROTARYROCKET7 03-21-2003 09:24 AM

what does that afc do?

LannyRX7 03-21-2003 09:39 AM

At least he's not sportin' APC gauges. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Nemesis 03-21-2003 11:14 AM

Check out this gauge thread on the other board. They really don't like Autometer....

Gauge thread

rmaiersg 03-21-2003 05:23 PM

Yes, that's the RB turbo back exhaust. The S-AFC is a fuel controller that allows you to adjust the fuel mixture like 50% lean or rich in 500 rpm incriments. It also shows you your airflow, fuel mixture, and i believe it shows pressure. There may be more that I can't think of. Man I can't wait to go cruisin' again!!! Shoot out some wicked flames. It sucks not having an engine in the car.

mike

Rob x-7 03-21-2003 07:00 PM

modifies the AFM's signel. Basically fools the computer into thinking it need more fuel for the situation or less fuel. Then it just does some other little things like taps into TPS to give you a read out for the throttle position, digital tach.. amount of correction da da da.

*edit* whoops damn late.. guess i needed to refresh https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
