I bought her last weekend. 1989 TII for $2,500 with 84k miles. The body is in great shape absolutely no rust and the chassis is rust free too. I bought it with a blown motor in central Iowa. I towed her home with a Uhaul trailer behind my friends 4runner. On the way back the ******* automatic tranny overheated. It was leaking fluid so a farmer was nice enough to give me a ride into town and I bought a case of ATF. We were able to make it home then (200 miles) without any problem going 40 miles per hour!!!!! Anywho... I immediately started to work on it and this is how far i got on it.

the paint on the rims aren't very good so this is the start of repainting them My trans tech teacher is cool enough to let me use the lab whenever i have free time and they have a sand blaster so it really helps cut time and give it a nice finish.

Theres one way to hold the tranny up....lol https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Cool, how much gas did you burn through on the way home?
|
It was like $130 there and back. I could have had another friend drive down there with me in his flatbed truck but i woiuld have had to have waited another week. I couldn't wait any long so i just rented a trailer. It cost like $250 with everything (trailer, gas, ATF, etc.).
|
cool, lookin good.
i'm gonna have to stop by sometime and check out the progress https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |

Great car. THe rims look good. Getting a rebuild? jspec? ore remanufactured?
|
nice looking series 5
|
that's a nice car. I supported the tranny by sticking a 2x4 across the crossmember, then putting the tranny on it. You'll see what I mean if you look in there.
|
I just put a jack stand under mine, but i guess it would be nicer to have support relative to the car and not the ground, so you can lift/lower the car without affecting the transmission location relative to the car. didnt give me any problems though.

2500 for an S5 w/ under 100K...good buy!

Looks like you're making good progress already Rob. I'm glad to see the car fell into good hands!
That was 1revin7's car...I put the DP and MP on that car, as well as the gauge install. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png |

Rob if you ever go to sell her i'll give ya just about any price you come up with. One day i'll have another one, but I need to graduate!

man that didn't cost much at all to get that too ya, I have been considering do that a lot, and yes the truck has a tranny cooler:) wouldn't tow anything w/o one.
