My 7 lost compression and needs a rebuild... I have people who can do this (members of local mazda sponcered racing teams).



If I were to wanna make the best of this situation, and do a performance oriented rebuild on my engine, what specific things should I consider doing?



Keep in mind that the people doing this rebuild have access to race oriented engine components.....

performance rebuilds usually include porting the intake and exhaust ports along with coolant passages. they also usually modify the oil system. generally they will use better clearances also. each builder generally has their own checklist of modifications....

When I get my shop opened in August/September I'm offering a performance rebuild for NAs and for Turbos. Will it still be street, or are you going for track? I'll base my opinion on what type of setup you want.

The shop will be located in either Mid northern Va, or possibly down south towards North Carolina...we are still checking out rentals and such.



For an '87 NA that will be used for the street, we can offer a typical mild streetport which includes enlarging the exhaust ports and intake ports, and with the use of factory OE seals gaskets and lines, you could have a nice flowing motor that won't cost all that much. Probably under $2000 depending how much other work goes into it, etc..
